It’s the time of year for thanks and giving. Opportunities to bless others abound in our community. In the words of Charles Dickens, “No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.”
In fact, giving to others actually can improve one’s own wellbeing. According to the Cleveland Clinic, the act of giving and volunteering can lower blood pressure, increase self-esteem, lessen depression, lower stress levels, increase happiness and even prolong life.
This month, we’ve compiled a list of local organizations accepting various donations. In addition to tangible and monetary gifts, these organizations seek volunteers on a regular basis. So consider giving your treasures, time and talent to lighten the burden of others this Thanksgiving.
