What ideas do you have for decorating mantles for the holidays?

Mantel design is important in holiday decorating as it creates a beautiful focal point. Draping garland over a mantel is a great starting point and is a versatile option, whether you choose fresh greenery or artificial garland. I prefer decorating with live greenery in my holiday decor because it adds a festive fragrance while bringing the outdoors in. If you are not wanting the additional task of picking up needles, artificial greenery may be a better fit for you. Add pine cones, sprigs of red berries, twigs and other natural items to add interest and to layer the garland.

Creating balance on a mantel with decorative items is your next step. Select beautiful candle holders with delicate tapers and then add holiday accessories, such as metal reindeers, trees and other items in your holiday palette. Make it colorful and fun or keep it sophisticated and neutral.

Do you have fun, unique tips for displaying wreaths?

Holiday wreaths are a staple in decorating for the season. A beautiful wreath can be traditional or modern and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. One option to bring a festive feel to the interior of your home is to hang smaller, plain evergreen wreaths with holiday ribbons from each interior window.  This creates a cozy and cohesive feel for the holiday season.

Another option is to create a wall vignette of different wreaths. Get creative and mix eucalyptus to grapevine wreaths or anything in between. Add festive bows or keep them natural. Stagger the wreaths to create a gallery wall, and you will see how simple it is to add such a unique and festive design to your everyday walls!

How can people decorate their Christmas tree with natural elements that tie into their home's natural colors?

I recommend layering natural elements to keep the colors neutral. Use gold, silver, white or cream ornaments with a glittery but neutral ribbon to envelop your Christmas tree. Add heartier holiday sprigs to create a layering of materials and a cohesive, sophisticated and extremely versatile look.

Favorite local stores for finding unique holiday decor?

One of my favorite local stores for finding unique holiday decor is Garden Supply Company. They have an amazing variety of holiday decor and talented employees who give sound guidance on greenery. They also make custom bows that are gorgeous! I have had luck with finding unique items from At Home, as well.
