A Vintage Revival

How Millcreek is Weaving Style, Sustainability, and Community Together

In a world where fast fashion churns out cookie-cutter pieces at lightning speed, something refreshing is happening in Millcreek, Utah. Here, a vibrant movement is breathing life into wardrobes with the charm of vintage finds and the creativity of reworked clothing. At the center of it all are two passionate co-founders, whose love for thrifting has blossomed into a weekly Bazaar and the now highly anticipated Millcreek Fashion Week.

For Rebecca Vidales, the path to vintage fashion began in childhood. “I’ve always loved fashion ever since I was a little girl. My dad would take me to yard sales and thrift stores. I grew up just doing that.” Those early adventures sparked an appreciation for one-of-a-kind pieces; garments with stories woven into their seams.

When a friend started selling vintage clothing, it inspired her to try her hand at it too. What began for Rebecca as an online side hustle quickly evolved. With the help of her partner and co-founder, Kamen Meier who was initially recruited as “free labor”  was soon swept up in the thrill of it all. The result? The Millcreek Bazaar, a lively flea market that now springs to life every Sunday at Millcreek Common.

Building on the Bazaar’s momentum, Millcreek Fashion Week was born. Teaming up with Millcreek City and the 1330 Design Collective, the event gives local designers specializing in reworked and sustainable fashion a runway to showcase their creativity.

“Think New York Fashion Week, but Millcreek,” Kamen jokes. The September 22-28th event celebrates expression with a “best-dressed” competition, (Sept 28, 2025) encouraging attendees to come dressed in their boldest, most authentic looks.  Sustainability lies at the heart of it all, not just through upcycled designs, but in shifting how we think about our closets. “Even if you bought something from a fast fashion brand, if you keep it for your whole life, that’s sustainable too. It’s about not overconsuming.”

The formal fashion show is scheduled for Friday September 26, 6-8pm.
