Enjoy Fresh Produce Grown Locally

New Aberdeen Farms Farm Market Now Open

A new source for locally grown produce, eggs from pasture-fed chickens, baked goods, milk, area-sourced USDA-inspected meats, dog food/treats and artisan cheeses is available at Aberdeen Farms Farm Market located inside the Aberdeen community in Center Grove at 5028 Abbeygate Blvd. Aberdeen is a premier, gated and unique wellness neighborhood.

Dena Marks, Aberdeen marketing and events manager, says the soft opening for the new market was during the Annual Strawberry Festival on June 1.

In addition to fruits and berries, Dena says the market team will continue to add produce and other food products as the season progresses, such as sweet corn, pumpkins, onions, tomatoes, asparagus, beans, lettuce, kale and apples from local orchards. "Some of the products are grown or raised at Aberdeen, and others are provided by other area farmers," she adds.

"We'll also offer butter, honey, honey sticks, jams, jellies, coffee and cut flowers at a flower bar," Dena states.

Aberdeen is considered an Agrihood, which means it's a planned community that intentionally integrates agriculture into a residential neighborhood. This lifestyle approach connects residents back to the food they're eating in a very direct way, enabling farm-to-table living, explains Mike Duke, founder and president of Duke Homes, the parent company and strategic planner of Aberdeen.

Aberdeen’s overall farm operation also provides learning opportunities through on-site educational classes that provide volunteers and residents opportunities to participate in growing and harvesting some of the produce.

Dena says the barn is a community hub anchoring the farm in its place and features the farm market. Among other elements, the farm boasts pastures for farm animals, rows upon rows of sweet corn, a pumpkin patch, an orchard and numerous plots for fresh cutting flowers, tomatoes, peppers, greens, carrots and berries.

An apothecary section at the market, Dena says, is expected to offer products such as dried lavender buds or bunches; Aberdeen Farms scented bath salts; essential oils; plus handmade goat soaps and lotions.

"Additionally, our new market will offer candles, old-fashioned candy, specialty sodas, a small assortment of landscape and garden plants and various wall and kitchen décor like tea towels and pictures," Dena announces.
