In a fast-paced world where it can feel like there’s no room to breathe, there’s an escape up in the clouds, with a landscape so beautiful that no artist could fully capture it. It’s the perfect place to relax, unwind, and rejuvenate.

And despite being just a short drive from incredible local attractions, you don’t even have to leave the resort to find your peace. Welcome to Cloudland at McLemore Resort, the weekend getaway you deserve right atop Lookout Mountain in Rising Fawn, Georgia.

Cloudland at McLemore Resort carries a rich history, one that’s honored throughout the property. It dates back more than two hundred years to a Scottish immigrant named McLemore, who married a Cherokee woman – their legacy still reflected today in the resort’s symbols and the tartan designs found throughout its halls. Though it only opened in May 2024, the resort has already made a name for itself, earning widespread attention and accolades along the way.

“There is nothing more beautiful,” said Mike Burton, managing director of Cloudland at McLemore Resort.  “It's a unique place, and everything is geared towards being one with the land. Everything is thoughtfully designed with the view in mind, which is by far one of our strongest assets.”

While the captivating views may be what first catches a guest’s eye, it’s the warmth of the staff and fellow guests that keeps them coming back. Guests can enjoy two complimentary beverages per night during happy hour, join a guided morning yoga session every Saturday, and take part in a rotating lineup of monthly activities.

“The people that work here are what sets us apart,” said Burton. “They are by far some of the most friendly, kind human beings I've ever had the privilege of working with. They care for our guests and each other, which makes the entire experience more enjoyable.”

Later, enjoy some friendly competition on the pickleball or tennis courts, take a dip in the cliffside infinity pool, or prioritize a little self-care with a visit to Selah Spa, where massages, facials, body treatments, hydrotherapy, saunas, and a deluge shower invite complete relaxation. Those looking to stay active can also take advantage of the 24-hour fitness center, complete with a Peloton studio. Afterward, grab a drink and bite at Skyside, just one of the several exceptional dining options on property. Sip a coffee at the Pocket Cafe, savor a memorable sit-down meal at laidback American concept Croft, or dine at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Auld Alliance. Named for the historic pact between the kingdoms of Scotland and France, this upscale concept serves a French- and Scottish-inspired menu that celebrates the culinary traditions and shared history of both cultures.

“There's no two travelers looking for exactly the same experience,” said Mike. “It could be going to the spa and having just an exquisite time, having that sense of renewal and relaxation, or it could be having the best meal you've ever had in your life. Perhaps you played the best round of golf on one of our two 18-hole courses. At Cloudland, it could be so many different things.”

Also a perfect destination for golf enthusiasts, Cloudland has already made its mark on the golf world. The Keep at McLemore Resort, the property’s 18-hole course, has earned notable national accolades since opening, including Sports Illustrated’s “Best New Course” and Golf Digest’s runner-up designation for “Best New Public Course in America” in 2025, as well as a No. 25 debut on Golfweek’s “Top 200 Resort Courses in the U.S.” for 2026.

“I’m most proud of the memories we create for our guests because it's really what it's all about,” said Mike.

Cloudland at McLemore Resort proves that true escape can be more than just a place. Whether chasing relaxation, adventure, or a little of both, this mountaintop retreat is ready to welcome you with open arms.
