Additional onsite services include: implants, root canals, tooth-colored fillings, Invisalign (teeth straightening), full and partial dentures, cosmetic dentistry, tooth extraction and preservation, and sedation dentistry. Advance Dental has state-of-the-art 3D digital imaging - CT 3D Scan, that allows doctors to work with high precision when placing implants or performing root canal treatments. They can use imaging during the procedure, ensuring the best quality of work. It also saves patients an extra trip (and expense) to an imaging facility.

Dr. Lewis Colin Ress is always looking for ways to further his dental education, practices and methods and has attended prestigious continuing education programs, such as the Master Courses at Bern Dental School in Switzerland. He has also completed several Implant and Oral Surgical related courses, all of which Dr. Ress says allows him to provide a high-level of patient care.

Dr. Ress is also able to perform complex procedures such as an apicoectomy – the removal of the tooth’s root, along with any infected tissue. Dr. Ress will do a sinus lift procedure if necessary for implant placement. However, unlike many other dentists, Dr. Ress is able to perform tissue-level implants versus the standard bone-level implant. With this method, Dr. Ress is able to help his patients prevent bone loss around the implant and help prevent implant failure.
About The Doctors:
Dr. Lewis Colin Ress, DDS: Dr. Ress attended the Indiana University school of dentistry at Indianapolis, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1984. He worked in private practice in Indiana for four years prior to permanently relocating to Connecticut with his wife, two children and beloved Irish Setter, Katy. Dr. Ress has been practicing at Advance Dental Care in East Hartford for over 30 years building a community of patients who trust that their teeth are in good hands with him. He has been recognized as a top dentist by the Consumer Research Council of America several times throughout his career.
Outside of the office, Dr. Ress’ family and friends know him for his active lifestyle and love of all things swimming, mountain biking, kayaking and skiing. He also grew up as a competitive swimmer, and ultimately competed in the 1976 Montreal Olympics for the French Olympic team.
Dr. Steven Cosgrove, DMD: Born and raised in the border town of El Paso, Texas Dr. Cosgrove graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry from Arizona State University. He then moved to Connecticut and obtained his DMD from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. After dental school, he attended a General Practice Residency at Hartford Hospital. Dr. Cosgrove has a son, Riley, who is turning 2 soon. His wife, Fernie, is a social worker. Dr. Cosgrove is active in many sports and plays the violin.
