In the new year, many residents in the Valley are seeking ways to kick off 2025 on the healthier side of life. For those who aren’t getting any younger, it can prove to be especially difficult to find ways to get healthy and stay healthy.
That is where David DeLorenzo—known around the Valley as the founder of Bar and Rescue Insurance, author of Just Getting Started: Reignite Your Spark, speaker, coach, and a fitness guru who recently got back into shape as he approached 50—comes in. He is now once again focused on not only his own personal health care journey, but he has made it his mission to help others find the healthiest version of themselves by helping them by sharing his own personal 3F method.
“The 3F method provides an emphasis on food, fitness, and focus, to help people have access to the simply tools they need to improve their health for good, mind, body, and soul,” says DeLorenzo.
DeLorenzo says focusing on healthy habits was the motivation behind the 3F method, which is now sharing with clients across the Valley.
“I created the 3F Method with balance in mind. The 3Fs create total balance in your day, so people no longer get stuck wasting time or getting lost in the daily chaos of life. I want people to know with small daily improvements, they can get unstuck and start working on achieving big life changes.”
As we age, getting into new healthy habits and daily changes can be challenging, but DeLorenzo shares it doesn’t have to be impossible and there are easy steps people can take to get or stay healthy as we age. For DeLorenzo, the advice starts with some simple ideas and changes.
“Do not overdo it. We are no 20 anymore. Doing more can actually be doing less in terms of how it is benefiting your body and mind,” he shares. “Know where you are at and what your limitations are as you get older. Age is a gift and if we treat it as such then we can have more of it. This is different for everyone, but if we listen to what our body tells us it can be a very beneficial process as we age.”
He also stresses that it is important to keep active as we get older. He believes that “if we don’t use it, we lose it,” and that this is particularly true as we age. Everyone will get older, and age is the reality of where we are in life, but he stresses that everyone’s reality is different.
“If you are always active and full of movement and energy, chances are you will keep those habits and have a great physical life as you get older,” he says. However, he adds that if you someone got off track over the years and don’t know how or where you lost your fitness, it is never to late to start getting healthy again. He stresses though to remain realistic to how you get back to a place of health for the person you are today, not who we were 20-plus years ago.
“Movement, nutritional intake, and happiness are the key to getting older,” he stresses.
When it comes to getting healthy as we age in the new year, DeLorenzo has some simple tips.
· Find ways to not stress. Take a walk or a do a hike, enjoy life with family and friend, eat clean, home cooked meals.
· Try to be your own health advocate and do not let anyone else tell you 100% what you should do.
· Research and find your own answers based on how you feel on the inside and out.
· Drink water daily, carry a water bottle with you at all times.
· Park your car further from work or the store, those added steps can make a big difference at the end of the day.
· Stretch and relax. Finding 15 minutes a day to get familiar with your body and where it is out. Wellness and self-care go a long way to creating a healthy lifestyle.
· Get enough sleep. As we get older, our body needs rest and recovery.
· Avoid processed foods whenever possible. Eating clean and healthy will help you feel good on the inside and out.
· Avoid toxic situations and people that don’t resonate with your wellness and health goals. No need to put yourself in those situations.
For DeLorenzo, it is about always putting forward the best version of yourself. Taking inventory of how you can help you put forward your best each and every day.
“I cherish the aspect of feeling good and behind healthy because it resonates in the way I am able to serve others. Whether it be in my business or my personal life. A happy life is an amazing life, no matter what age you are living it.”
