Lauren Luyendyk catapulted to fame as a contestant in the 22nd season of The Bachelor, who ultimately won the heart of champion auto racing pro Arie Luyendyk. Today, the married couple of nearly six years call the Valley home with their three children, ages 5 and 3 (twins).
Luyendyk is also a beloved and high-profile influencer and businesswoman whose latest venture is a collaboration with CMYK Cosmetics, known for their high-quality, clean, ethically made and smart beauty products.
Recently, Luyendyk spoke with Scottsdale City Lifestyle about her new CMYK Cosmetics glow-up collection, how she navigated reality TV celebrity, and her hacks on looking great fast.
Scottsdale City Lifestyle (SCL): You recently launched your glow-up collection in collaboration with CMYK Cosmetics, which is based here in the Valley. Congratulations! Could you tell us about it?
Lauren Luyendyk (LL): Thank you! I’m so excited about the Glow Up Collection! Clean beauty is so important to me, and I wanted to create a makeup collection that empowers people to express their individuality without compromising on what they put on their skin. We wanted to make sure that anyone using the products can enjoy beautiful results while knowing they’re using safe ingredients. It’s all about enhancing natural beauty and encouraging self-expression in a responsible way. The products are versatile and easy to use, perfect for busy lifestyles while still delivering that glam factor!
SCL: You and CMYK Cosmetics’ co-founder Bella Weems-Lambert are best friends. Is that how you uniting together for this collection came about?
LL: Yes, Bella and I have been friends for years, and our shared passion for beauty made this collaboration feel like a natural fit. We wanted to create something that feels like a girls’ night out with your best friend and resonates with our community.
SCL: Do you have personal CMYK favorites that you recommend?
LL: Definitely! Their One & Only Mascara is one of my favorites. I use it every day. The Luscious Lip Liner in "Incognito" is another one of my favorites that I love pairing with the No Limits Lip Gloss in "Shimmy" from our Glow Up Collection.
SCL: CMYK is known for its clean, vegan, and cruelty-free beauty products. Do you think people are making more of a conscious effort to seek these out?
LL: Absolutely! People are becoming increasingly aware of what goes into their products and how it impacts their health and the planet. I think this shift to nontoxic skincare and makeup is so important, and I love being part of a brand that aligns with these values.
SCL: Most people know you from The Bachelor. But you had a career and life well before that. Could you please talk a bit about what you were doing pre-Bachelor?
LL: Before The Bachelor, I was working in technology sales and was really passionate about it. I loved getting to work with executives to help scale and simplify their business processes! I met a lot of amazing mentors that taught me things I’ll forever use in my passion for entrepreneurship and growing my own businesses!
SCL: It must’ve been jarring to have millions of strangers not only feel like they know you, but also judge you. How did you deal with that?
LL: It can definitely be challenging! I’ve learned to focus on the positive feedback and to surround myself with people who lift me up. It’s important to remember that everyone has their own journey and struggles.
SCL: As a business owner, full-time mom, and wife, what is the key to doing it all—and seemingly flawlessly?
LL: Balance is key! I prioritize my time and make sure to carve out moments for myself and my family. It’s all about finding what works for you and being flexible with your plans.
SCL: Do you have any hacks for busy women who don’t have a ton of time to get ready in the morning but still want to look pulled together and impress?
LL: Absolutely! A good tinted moisturizer and some mascara can go a long way. Adding a statement lip can elevate your look instantly. Also, having a few go-to outfits ready to go makes mornings so much easier!
SCL: What’s your current guilty pleasure?
LL: Lately it’s been baking for me! I love testing out new recipes! The kids have been getting involved too which makes it even more fun.
SCL: Describe your perfect day.
LL: My perfect day would start with a cozy morning at home with my family, followed by some time outdoors—maybe a hike or a picnic. I’d love to end the day with a fun dinner and quality time with friends, laughing and making memories.
