Pets hold a special place in our hearts and homes. We love them, care for them, and want the very best for them. That's why it's important to find trusted professionals who care about our pets as much as we do. All Pets Considered is one of those places.
Owner Alison Schwartz recalls one customer saying that walking into the store felt the TV show Cheers, where everybody knows your name. Or, as an All Pets Considered T-shirt proudly proclaims: “Where everybody knows your pet's name.”
Alison always knew she wanted to work with animals. As a child, she thought the path was limited to veterinary work. But years later, she discovered another trajectory. Alison first became familiar with the locally owned All Pets Considered while volunteering with a dachshund rescue organization. She forged relationships with the staff members and the store’s founder, Kristine Godfrey. That led to Alison eventually taking on a part-time position at the store. Her progression upward was very organic: Employee, manager, general manager, and then part-owner. In 2024, Kristine strategically exited the business and Alison assumed full ownership.
Founded in 1992, All Pets Considered has grown from a single location into a trusted community resource for pet owners across the Triad. Today, the business operates two stores: 2614 Battleground Avenue (which also offers grooming services) and 5004 High Point Road (which offers self-service dog washing). Both locations offer premium food, supplies, gifts, and expert guidance for dogs, cats, and small animals. They specialize in high-quality goods, smaller brands, and niche products. “We always research the products before bringing them into the store, and we know the owners of the pet food companies,” says Alison. “Quality and sourcing are important to us.”
While the products are important, Alison believes the store's greatest strength is its people. “We spend a significant amount of time training our staff,” she says. “We want them to truly understand the products we carry so they can help customers make informed decisions.”
As pet ownership continues to evolve, Alison has witnessed growing interest in nutrition, wellness, and more natural approaches to pet care. She believes today's pet owners are increasingly focused on helping their animals live longer, healthier lives. Whether she and her staff are helping solve a pet health issue or guiding a family toward a better nutrition plan, Alison finds fulfillment in improving the lives of pets and the people who love them.
The business's local focus has helped it thrive in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Alison notes that All Pets Considered often matches or beats larger competitors through loyalty programs, competitive pricing, online ordering, and free same-day local delivery throughout much of Guilford County.
Serving local pet owners means more than providing quality products and convenient services. All Pets Considered is deeply involved in the community through sponsoring local teams, attending neighborhood events, supporting fundraisers, and donating hundreds of gift baskets each year to charitable causes.
In the end, it's not just about pet products. It's about people, relationships, and a shared love of animals.
