There is so much to love in this stunning Wilton estate’s dramatic entry foyer. The sea of blue saturating the walls, trim, and casings, and an elegant zinc top table with hand-hammered metal base; creates an airy feel while anchoring the space. Once inside, your eye is immediately drawn up to a magnificent chandelier that hangs gracefully from the high ceiling, casting a warm and inviting glow. The freshly carpeted stairs in patterned blue and lavender tones lead up to the second floor; with custom designed wainscoting creating the architectural elements necessary to carry the weight and scale of the room. The stair railing was painted with a brilliant blue gloss from the Fine Paints of Europe. The cozy traditionalism of the blue country house painting adorning the wall at the top of the stairs not only added further elements of color but made the family feel welcome at the end of each day.

The metallic leaf print ceiling paper applied on the domed ceiling enveloped the room in warmth maximizing the elegant feeling in this exquisite one-of-a-kind space.

Beth Krupa, Principal of Beth Krupa Interiors in Greenwich, explains this foyer’s dramatic impact comes from the blend of traditional and modern design elements. “We were presented with a foyer in a newly purchased home which was narrow with an overly tall ceiling and a lackluster attempt at formality. Beginning with the signature paint color, we designed, specified, and procured focal furniture pieces, custom wallpaper, artwork, lighting, hide and stair runner, and custom wainscoting. The traditional wainscoting elements gave the client comfort while the modern chandelier and entrance table created an exciting entrance. The successful combination of these two styles was pivotal to the design. Every piece was carefully curated to create a welcoming and awe-inspiring entry point that set the tone for the entire space.”

The star of the show is the ‘Mother Chandelier’ by Barlas Baylar. An elegant piece of illuminated art, its 3 miles of draped jewelry-quality polished nickel chains emits a shimmering light welcoming you into the home while making a stellar first impression.

A tall wood glass-front Habersham lighted display cabinet provides space for cherished items, and a mod upholstered teardrop shaped ottoman brings color to the forefront and makes for a welcoming vignette with the organic shaped bronze mirror.

A built-in wine refrigerator by Miele in the main hallway opposite the kitchen provides easy access to the perfect meal wine pairings.

“Every element was carefully curated to create a welcome and awe-inspiring entry point that set the tone for the entire space.”
