Lunachick Boutique opened its doors more than 18 years ago after owner Laura Rothstein says she recognized a community need for a place where mothers and daughters could share shopping experiences during which each could find that “something special” in one boutique.
"We wanted to offer a place to shop for elevated basics, on-trend pieces and that perfect-fit jean, all within a positive, happy, non-pressure atmosphere. The overwhelming response from our very first customers validated we were on to something really special," recalls Laura.
The name 'Lunachick' carries a deeper, personal meaning. As a yoga teacher for 20-plus years, Laura has long been drawn to the energy of the moon and what it represents: balance, renewal and growth. She says Lunachick is her play on “moon girl,” a reflection of both strength and femininity, and a quiet nod to the journey that continues to shape her life and brand.
Fast forward to 2026: "With the help of our amazing customers and staff, we've expanded to three boutique locations in the Philadelphia area and have grown in to what we call our Lunachick family," she adds.
"Being part of the Lunachick family means prioritizing the people in your life that matter. We take care of our employees because they take care of our Lunachick family. We wouldn’t have it any other way."
Lunachick's known for its curated mix of denim, cozy sweaters and lifestyle brands. Summer marks a favorite time of year, dress season, when Laura says customers turn to Lunachick for college and high school graduation dresses, grad parties, summer events and thoughtfully curated selections.
Laura says she and her team believe that they're only as strong as the community that surrounds them. "Philanthropy's part of our business plan since the very beginning and includes supporting local nonprofits through our fundraising efforts,” Laura states.
She says they love hosting events that bring people together, especially around holidays and meaningful moments throughout the year.
