Appreciation For Being Holistically Physically Fit

Journey Health + Wellness Offers Beneficial Therapies For Detoxed Well-Being

To revitalize, rejuvenate and rediscover the best version of oneself is to experience truly gratifying living. Just ask the mother-daughter duo of Kristie Geitner and Jessie Kennell, co-owners of Journey Health + Wellness in Greenwood.

They state they started their health care center during January 2023 out of personal needs when traditional medical approaches couldn’t fully address their family's health issues, including Lyme disease, skin cancer and chronic fatigue. "Our turning point came with guidance we received at the Envita Clinic in Scottsdale, where we learned the significance of detoxification and making healthier choices in what we eat and use daily," recalls Kristie.

Jessie says they then deepened their understanding of natural health practices while exploring detox techniques, digestive enzyme therapies and other holistic health methods.

Their center now provides a variety of treatments, such as digestive enzyme testing, massage therapy, Electro-equiscope microcurrent treatments, muscle testing, oxygen therapy and red light/infrared sauna sessions. But it’s not just about the treatments and state-of-the-art testing, reminds Kristie. "We educate about nutrition, lifestyle adaptations and reducing toxin exposure. Our holistic method is designed to address health issues from the ground up, helping reduce inflammation, accelerate healing and support overall well-being."

As a digestive health professional and licensed massage therapist, Kristie and Jessie state they've discovered that unveiling root causes of health challenges is the key, especially when those issues involve inflammation, skin irritations, brain fog, depression, irritability, moodiness, fatigue and anxiety. To support the overall mission, they offer complimentary base consultations to discuss digestion, movement, environmental factors, stress sources and other chief health complaints.

Detoxing is essential because toxic chemicals just don’t belong in our bodies, says Kristie. She adds that human bodies can handle small amounts of toxins through natural detoxification processes, primarily through one's cells, organs, tissues, lymphatic system, liver, kidneys, bile ducts and colon.

She emphasizes that it's imperative to remember toxins also can originate from parasites, metals and pesticides.

"However, the cumulative effect of repeated exposure to low levels of toxins can overwhelm these systems and spill over to other systems," Jessie states. "Like overflowing a bucket, the toxins must go somewhere. They can be stored in other locations of your body, such as tissue and fat cells, or pushed out through other means, such as the skin."

She and Kristie say consistent toxin overflow without giving a body a break, or the right support, can lead to chronic health conditions.

"Most people come to us due to hurting and bloated stomachs, or chronic migraines. Most don't know harmful bacteria can build up a protective biofilm, which is why antibiotics don't always rid infections or recurring issues," shares Kristie.

For anyone who wishes to jumpstart their detoxing journey, Jessie and Kristie sell a detox support kit of curated dietary supplements.

"My passion is helping people realize how important it is to lessen their toxin load, and that this self-care should be a lifelong endeavor. Our poor livers, they are our main filter systems. Health issues don't always show in bloodwork, and by the time they do, my experience is that the damage is already done," says Kristie.
