When I asked the current owners of the remarkable property for sale at 462 W. Oakwood in the Timberlake community north of Barrington to share their thoughts on the neighborhood, they exuberantly responded. “It’s amazing! Timberlake is a great private lake community with a mix of long term residents who are now empty nesters and families with school aged children. It’s a great place to be social: private lake with lifeguards, Easter Bunny and Santa come to the lake, 4th of July neighborhood party, corn roast, “book” (wine) club for ladies, and more are all available—or you can skip it all and just enjoy the quiet. It’s tucked back in on a quiet street, but accessible to main roads for shopping within 5 minutes. It’s also in the much-sought-after 220 school district; our kids attend North Barrington Elementary, Station Middle School and Barrington High School.”

My own on-line tour of this stunning brick home via ReneeClarkHomes.com (search for 10696411) was thorough and impressive, showing stunning views of the adjoining tranquil pond from many rooms through walls of windows facing the expansive back yard. Subsequently confirmed via live visit its setting is beautiful and serene, offering an array of outdoor seasonal amenities just feet from the home’s back door (ice skating, hockey, swimming, paddle boating, kayak/canoeing, and fishing, via the subdivision’s lake/beach rights). Relax on the back deck or paver patio among the trees, or chill on the pretty front porch.

The front entrance opens into a large foyer with a spacious living room/office and grand dining room. The gourmet kitchen features high-end appliances, custom cabinetry and gorgeous granite counters with ample table space and a large “bakers island”. The kitchen opens to a magnificent great room/family room with spectacular fireplace and an abundance of natural light. The main-level master suite boasts a large walk-in closet and luxurious spa bath.

The owners’ favorite memories? “The pond has gifted us endless memories with our kids over our 10 years here. From the serenity of looking at the water over a fire, and so many s’mores, to catching frogs, fishing, kayaking, and ice skating it is the stuff lifelong memories are made of. We loved opening the windows in the spring and listening to the frogs sing us to sleep too!”

Asked what they would miss most about the home, they replied, “A lot! The square footage—more than enough, but it doesn’t feel impersonal. We could be together within earshot if we wanted, or far enough away from each other that we could space. And the 3-car garage…So much space! We wish we could’ve stayed just for the heated, enormous garage...seriously!”
