Empowering Women Through Financial Wisdom:

In a financial industry historically dominated by men, Jenny Bergeron is breaking barriers and redefining wealth management through her firm, Athene Wealth Management. With a mission centered on education, empowerment, and strategic financial planning, Jenny is transforming how women engage with their financial futures.

Her journey into finance wasn’t a conventional one. Initially working in advertising, she found herself deeply interested in personal finance.

"I used to tell my husband that I’d love to just manage our money because it fascinated me," she recalls. That curiosity soon became an opportunity when a financial advisor noticed her entrepreneurial spirit and encouraged her to enter the industry.

However, her transition into wealth management exposed her to a rigid industry structure that often prioritized sales quotas over personalized, strategic financial planning. This realization led to a bold move—starting her own firm, Athene Wealth.

"I didn’t want to push products just for the sake of hitting sales targets," Jenny explains. "I wanted to create a firm where clients’ financial goals and well-being came first, not just their investments."

As a woman in finance, she has encountered her share of challenges, but she also sees her gender as an asset.

"Women tend to approach financial planning holistically," she explains. "We consider the entire picture—family dynamics, emotions, long-term goals—before making investment decisions. Women also often carry the mental load of managing the household, social calendars, and caregiving responsibilities," she says. "Learning to delegate—both at home and in business—has been liberating."

One of her approaches is her emphasis on financial counseling along with investment management.

"The real work isn’t about growing assets—it’s about helping people understand what kind of wealth they need to create for their unique lives," she says. Athene Wealth works toward ensuring clients have a solid grasp of their financial landscapes.

One of Athene Wealth’s core missions is to educate women about their finances.

"I’ve worked with too many women who, after a divorce or the loss of a spouse, realize they have no idea where their money is or how it’s managed," Jenny says.

Her advice? Start simple: know what comes in and what goes out; understand where your money is invested; stay involved in major financial decisions—like purchasing a home or planning for retirement. "You don’t have to be an expert," she reassures. "But knowing enough to be confident is key."

She remains committed to providing high-touch, personalized service. She envisions a practice that allows her to deeply engage with clients and their evolving needs. "I don’t want to manage people’s ethics—I want to do the work," she says. "That’s what I love, and that’s what sets us apart."

She sees a growing need for more women in finance. "We bring a different perspective—one that prioritizes education, empathy, and comprehensive planning."

Her message to women hesitant about investing or managing their finances?  “You can do it. Find someone who asks about you—your fears, your goals, your values. That’s the first step to financial empowerment. Don’t worry about how much you have or don’t have. Just start somewhere.”
