At the new Atlanta Humane Society home, there are splash yards and walking trails for the dogs, and safely enclosed "catios" for cats. Lighting in the animal areas is set to replicate natural circadian rhythms and offers different light settings to keep stress at a minimum.
The Shelter Medicine area will allow extensive medical treatment and care including isolation rooms for parvovirus and ringworm, a dental suite, and a surgery room. There is a training room for community events, and a kid's learn and explore area.
The new shelter will be open 12 p.m. - 4 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday-Saturday.
The Arthur M. Blank Family Animal Center is located at 1551 Perry Boulevard.
