Freshen Up Your Space For Fall

Looking to freshen up your home for the fall season? Take a few decorative tips from Cathi Lane, director of interior design for AR Homes. Diverse living spaces – including inviting outdoor porches and cozy office nooks for getting work done — continue to be popular, while the paint color "greige," a mixture of grey and beige, looks warm in some lights, cool in others.

A few more pointers from Lane, who recently attended design shows in High Point, North Carolina.

  • More people are working from home than ever before, driving the need for functional, comfortable home office spaces.
  • Outdoor Furniture is still prominently featured, with a renewed interest in creating the ideal outdoor space.
  • Natural Materials, such as woven rattan and caning, continue to trend, from case goods to lighting. Woven pieces pair well with natural textiles and pale wood finishes for a relaxed, organic feel.
  • Curved Lines, rounded edges and organic shapes are bringing a softer side to interiors. This trend ranges from furniture to sculptural décor. It is most popular on sofas and chairs to create inviting seating environments.
