Walking into AVOS Dental Specialists, patients encounter the welcoming environment of a practice that provides exceptional specialty dental care while creating a relaxing, luxury experience designed to alleviate common fears associated with dental or surgical treatment. Because of the practice’s unique multi-specialty design, patients benefit from the ease and convenience of having endodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and periodontics specialties all in one practice.
“We are always striving to raise the bar for the standard of care, especially from a patient convenience standpoint,” shared Dr. Dustin Haupt. “By having all the specialties under one roof, I think that is something we're achieving.”
Although each specialty has a specific concentration, they all work together to improve each patient’s overall oral health. Endodontic treatments include root canal therapy and clearing up infections while periodontic therapy focuses on managing gum disease and its associated conditions through treatment of deep pockets, gum grafting, bone loss, and more.
Oral and maxillofacial surgery specialists focus on extractions, implants, repairing facial fractures, and wisdom teeth removal. Additionally, they provide surgical options for the airway which includes expansion of the top jaw, allowing patients to breathe more easily through the nose which reduces sleep apnea like symptoms.
Although referrals are not necessary for an appointment, Dr. Haupt clarifies why general dentists initiate referrals. “It is normal for your general dentist to refer you to a specialist for treatment that may be outside of their scope,” he explains. “With improved dental care and specialization, we have professionals who are excellent with those specific procedures and can provide a much better outcome and higher success rate with their treatment.”
Benefits of having multiple specialties in one practice include the ability to offer IV sedation across concentrations as well as cross treatment. “We do a fair number of combined cases where I might be extracting wisdom teeth on a patient who also needs a root canal. I sedate the patient and then whenever I'm finished, Dr. Kiebish does the root canal while the patient is still asleep,” explains Dr. Haupt. “Or, if the patient is having a root canal, but unfortunately, the tooth cannot be saved, then they are able to see me at that same visit to discuss different options such as implants. This makes it easier for the patient and saves them additional visits, consultation costs, and X-rays.”
