For many kids, sports offer more than just fun—they build confidence, teach teamwork, and open doors to opportunity. But for underprivileged youth, the cost of equipment can be a major barrier. That’s where Build A Bag Foundation steps in.
Brooklynne Simbeck, a former standout softball pitcher and seasoned pitching coach, founded Build A Bag Foundation, a Kansas City-based nonprofit dedicated to helping young athletes chase their dreams. What began as a simple gesture—sharing extra gear with friends—quickly grew into a full-blown mission to ensure no child is left on the sidelines due to lack of equipment.
In 2024, Build A Bag supported over 100 families, providing everything from sports bags and cleats to hygiene products and learning materials. Their impact is personal, like helping 9-year-old Nathan, a young catcher, receive a full set of gear and a sense of belonging, through their Adopt An Athlete holiday program.
Now, the foundation is looking to continue growing, with plans to introduce free camps, clinics, and additional youth programs. With a goal of helping over 200 families this year, community support is more important than ever.
You can support Build A Bag Foundation by donating new or gently used sports equipment, giving online at buildabagkc.org, or adopting an athlete through their annual holiday program. Every donation helps a young athlete gear up, grow in confidence, and chase their dreams.
