Starting a business with a sibling brings unique challenges and rewards. For these two sisters, Lindsey and Leslie Philip, launching a lash studio in Surprise was a dream driven by their shared passion for beauty and wellness. In this interview, they share insights into their journey of working together.

  1. What inspired you to start a lash studio together in Surprise?

Leslie & Lindsey: We wanted to be multi-unit owners from the start, and Surprise became our third location because of its growing community and business opportunities.

How do you divide responsibilities and manage the business as sisters?

Leslie: I handle marketing, social media, and public relations, leveraging my background in sports PR.

Lindsey: I manage operations and daily management. We consult each other on major decisions and complement each other's strengths.

What unique services or experiences does your lash studio offer compared to others in the area?

Leslie & Lindsey: We offer lash extensions, lifts, facial waxing, and brow services, along with a personalized experience. Our focus on customer service sets us apart.

How has the lash industry changed since you started your business, and how have you adapted?

Leslie & Lindsey: The beauty industry has evolved significantly since we opened in 2020. We've partnered with local schools to support new lash stylists and adapt to industry changes.

What's been the biggest challenge you've faced as business partners and sisters, and how did you overcome it?

Leslie & Lindsey: Learning to trust each other in our roles. We've grown by recognizing each other's strengths and supporting one another. We've overcome it by giving each other the time and tools to improve and succeed.

What advice would you give to other siblings considering starting a business together?

Leslie: Allow each other room to grow and make mistakes. Lean into each other’s strengths and work as a team.

Lindsey: Take a chance—it's completely worth it!
