Ed Weller and Terrence Vyfhuis noticed that their clientele came into their barber shop complaining of scalp and hair issues. The usual products were not enough to combat the dry Arizona heat, the harsh water running in our pipes, and the dryness of the desert. In addition, Terrence became concerned with the ingredients in many hair products that weren't even easy to pronounce, much less recognizable. In light of his wife's breast cancer diagnosis, he became even more certain about the importance of being mindful of what we were putting on our hair and skin. Ed, whose parents are originally from Sierra Leone, began to research sourcing ingredients like shea butter directly from the country.
The result was the start of their hair care line called Bee You. After plenty of research and testing they combined whole ingredients like aloe vera, lemongrass, citrus oil, and shea butter to create healthy and original products to combat dryness and breakage. Originally, from Maryland and the son of immigrants, Ed earned a BA in Exercise Science and always had an interest in health and wellness. Terrence hails from Chicago and has a degree in Engineering but also served in the navy for 10 years. Both men eventually got their barber license in Arizona, and for the last 13 years, Terrence is the owner of The Cut Barbershop in Tempe.
The Bee You line includes the Summer Rain Mister which Terrence says is perfect start the day with for the light, bright scent of citrus. The mister provides hydration for the scalp, hair, and even your face. Their pomade is a two in one product that helps control waves and smoothes out facial hair. Finally their Beard Oil traps in moisture and promotes even and healthy beard growth.
Wellness starts from the head down, and local business owners like Ed and Terrence understand the importance of having healthy hair and skin.
