Learn new yoga poses with this tutorial

  Yoga is a great way to exercise and de-stress. There are many physical benefits to yoga such as strengthening muscles and stretching the body, as well as mental benefits like sharpening the mind and mental clarity. A few tips to get you started is to have a yoga mat, wear comfortable clothing, breathe throughout the poses, stay hydrated, and respect your body's limits.

  We have three yoga poses you can do at home to get you started on your yoga routine! As you ease your way into a yoga routine, start by practicing a couple times a week and gradually build your up. If you feel like you are struggling to learn the poses, there are many qualified yoga instructors in Augusta to help you achieve the proper posture for each pose. A great teacher should be knowledgeable yet kind, friendly, and compassionate. 


 

Extended Triangle Pose

Stand with your feet apart. Reach your arms out to your sides. Turn your right foot 90 degrees to the right. Bending at the hips, lower your torso to the right so your left side is facing up.

Child’s Pose

Stand on your knees. Lower your chest onto your thighs and your forehead toward the mat. Slide your hands toward your feet, with your arms alongside your legs.

Camel Pose

Stand on your knees. Place your hands on your back and slowly lean backwards. Bring your hands to your ankles and arch your back.
