Celebrated jeweler Susana Vega recently dropped her Aurea collection, and the fashion world can’t get enough. Houstonian by way of Venezuela; Vega is the daughter of a goldsmith. She grew up surrounded by creativity, and the art of mixing colors, textures and materials became second nature. Soon after launching her business in the United States in 2015, her jewelry made its way onto the pages of fashion magazines like Vogue and is worn by celebrities, including Gloria Estefan.
The collection, available through her online shop, is inspired by “the golden circles, the Fibonacci sequence that takes us to the root, to the beginning of everything,” says the artist. She wants the viewer to look deeper at everyday objects to see the “divine perfection in the tangible and intangible” and says, “everything seems like a coincidence, but it isn’t.”
Vega’s jewelry is perfectly imperfect, just like nature. There is beauty, elegance and personality in each piece that is handmade from start to finish. The Aurea collection, comprising earcuffs, earrings and rings ranges in price from $78 to $440 and is made with glass beads, resin, silver and 24kt gold-filled wire.
