Local Acai Bowls to Try This Summer

A guide for finding local and delicious acai bowls to satisfy healthy cravings.

An acai bowl is the perfect summer treat – they’re healthy, refreshing and sweet. Luckily, you don’t have to look far to find businesses who serve them. If you’re looking to enjoy an acai bowl, we’ve laid out three local spots that have some of the best.

Located at 750 S Old Woodward Ave, Be Well Lifestyle Centers is a great option if you’re looking for an Acai Bowl! While they have a variety of healthy and delicious smoothies, wraps, toasts and bowls, a fan favorite is the Acai Chocolate Bowl, made with apple juice, acai, banana, cacao, almond butter and topped with strawberry, banana, granola and cacao nibs. Its base has a perfect consistency and a medium level of sweetness while remaining much more flavorful than a regular acai bowl. The cacao powder and almond butter serve as additional game-changers. As for the toppings, the fruit nicely complements the base, and the granola and cacao nibs top off each spoonful with the perfect amount of crunch. For a light and filling meal or heavy snack, this bowl is the one for you!

Fruition, located at 856 N Old Woodward Ave, is a new and modern cafe specializing in acai bowls, toasts, and lattes. What’s unique about Fruition is that every bowl has the same base, simply being an acai puree. Because the base is just acai, the bowl has a larger topping-to-base ratio, as the fruit, nut butter and granola fill up most of the bowl.  While they have several flavor combinations, the Birm’ Bowl is among the most popular. It consists of acai topped with granola butter (like normal nut butter, but made with oats!), granola, strawberry, raspberries, banana chips (you can sub for regular banana slices), and chocolate chips. This bowl will surely satisfy your sweet tooth, and with its not-too-filling base and toppings, it is perfect for a snack or a very light meal!

Right down the street at 600 N Old Woodward Ave, is Cafe Succo. This healthy cafe has much to offer, and when it comes to their acai bowls, you really can’t go wrong! One of the most popular bowls is the Revive Bowl, which is very refreshing and filling (especially in this summer heat!). This bowl consists of a base made with acai, strawberry, blueberry, banana, and almond milk and is topped with granola, coconut shavings, banana, pineapple, kiwi and honey. This bowl is the largest and most filling out of the three healthy cafes, making it perfect for a heavier snack or satisfying meal!
