Big Deals & Bromance

Scott Grigg & The Altman Brothers Get Candid

When Arizona real estate powerhouse Scott Grigg joined forces with Bravo TV's Million Dollar Listing stars Matt and Josh Altman, it was more than just a business move—it was a game-changer. Now, one year later, the Grigg’s Group powered by The Altman Brothers is making waves in the Arizona luxury real estate market like never before. We caught up with Scott and Matt to talk about their journey, their bromance, and their big plans for the future.

First, our hearts are with our neighbors in California impacted by the fires. Matt, this has undoubtedly been a difficult time for so many—how has this affected you personally and professionally?

Matt: It’s devastating. I live in Sherman Oaks, and the destruction is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. We had the chance to go in with the sheriff's department, and all you see for miles are chimneys standing alone—a heartbreaking sight. Personally, I was lucky. I had a home in the Hollywood Hills that, to this day, I don’t understand how it didn’t burn down. My brother called me, telling me to turn on the news and watch it burn, but miraculously, our street was spared.

Professionally, it's been one of the busiest times of my life. Thousands of families are looking for homes, and the challenge is finding solutions that fit their needs quickly. Many people were underinsured or didn’t have insurance, so it’s a very difficult time.

Scott, with the consistent influx of Californians into Arizona over the past few years, what changes have you observed in the local market?

Scott: We’ve been seeing a steady migration from California to Arizona for a while, but the recent fires are accelerating that movement. Arizona offers a better quality of life, more space, and a growing luxury market that’s attractive to those who are leaving LA and surrounding areas. Since the fires, we’ve had several clients come into town looking for rentals and exploring permanent relocation options.

When we partnered with Matt and Josh, we saw the potential in bridging the gap between California and Arizona real estate markets. This past year has been about creating those synergies and helping clients transition seamlessly.

Congratulations on celebrating one year of the Grigg’s Group powered by The Altman Brothers. What does this milestone meant to you?

Scott: It’s an incredible journey. We’ve gone from an idea to a powerhouse real estate group, and the results speak for themselves. In our first year, we closed over $338 million in sales- a huge leap from the previous year. The support and trust from our clients is overwhelming.

Matt: Scott is being humble. The way he runs things in Arizona is phenomenal. When we first discussed the partnership, it made perfect sense. Scott is someone we trust, someone we knew had the same work ethic, and someone who shared our vision of delivering a luxury experience to clients. It’s amazing to see how much we’ve grown in just one year. We’ve created a brand presence in Arizona that simply didn’t exist before.

How did this partnership initially come about?

Scott: Believe it or not, it goes back over a decade. I met Josh and Matt through a mutual client who was buying in Santa Monica. We hit it off right away, and over the years, we kept in touch, bouncing ideas off each other and working on deals together. Most of all, we became great friends. I event went to their weddings. When the luxury market in Arizona started to hit $1,200 a square foot, it was the right time to bring the Altman Brothers here.

Matt: We’ve always had a great relationship. Scott is one of those guys you can send a client to and not worry about a thing. We knew he was the right person to help us expand into Arizona, and it’s been a fantastic collaboration.

What are some of your biggest wins over the past year?

Scott: We had a record-breaking sale in Paradise Valley at $1,685 per square foot, which was awesome. The client was a long-time Altman Brothers client from LA who relocated for the quality of life here in Arizona. We also expanded into new markets like Lake Havasu, which Matt initially discovered.

Matt: Lake Havasu is a game-changer. I didn’t know much about it until a developer invited me out, and I was blown away. It’s not just a spring break town anymore; it’s evolving into a high-end destination with incredible luxury properties right on the water. Scott and I saw the potential and decided to dive in.

Matt, how has your experience with Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing influenced your business?

Matt: Bravo gave us a platform we could have never imagined. The exposure was phenomenal, and it opened doors to clients from all over the world. But at the end of the day, what sets us apart is our work ethic. The show was great, but our success comes from working around the clock and delivering results. Josh and I worked our way up, and that grind never stops.

Scott: Having Matt and Josh’s Bravo reputation in the Arizona market helps bring attention to what we are doing. People recognize the brand, but they also see the quality of service and dedication we bring to each client.

What are your goals for 2025?

Scott: Our goal is to hit half a billion dollars in sales. We’re expanding our presence in Paradise Valley, Scottsdale, and looking into other luxury markets across Arizona. We’re also growing our team but keeping it boutique—quality over quantity.

Matt: We’re also focused on enhancing our global reach. When you list with us, you’re not just getting local exposure—you’re getting national and international exposure. That’s what sets us apart.

If you weren’t in real estate, what would you be doing?

Matt: I’d be a scuba diving instructor. I love being underwater; it’s my escape.

Scott: Probably a golfer. Or a teeth model—Matt likes to tease me about that.

Any wild real estate stories you can share?

Scott: Years ago, I sold a house where the seller-a Russian mail-order bride-refused to leave after closing. She wouldn't get off the floor and had to be removed by the police.

Matt: I once did a showing while a burglar was hiding in the closet. We had to act like nothing was wrong and get out safely. Crazy things happen in this business!

What advice would you give your younger selves?

Scott: Celebrate the wins. We used to go out for dinner after big closings, and now it’s just onto the next. Taking the time to appreciate the journey is important.

Matt: Write everything down—every transaction, every story. It’s easy to forget, and those moments are what make this job special.
