Big Sky Natural Health Promotes Wellness

Personalized local service at it's best

Big Sky Natural health has some new things going on, according to owner Dr. Kaley Burns. The clinic, located at 87 Lone Peak Drive in Big Sky, is currently the only place where clients can receive NAD+ IV therapy. NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in all living cells. It promotes cellular regeneration and has been proven to repair DNA, protect brain cells, reduce inflammation, and helps to fend off neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzherimers and Parkinson’s Disease. “It can even help with Chronic Fatigue,” Dr. Burns said. “People use it for anti-aging as well as a variety of different nerve conditions.”

NAD contains a mixture of B-vitamins, including niacin, and these can be difficult to absorb orally, which is why IV therapy works so well. Dr. Burns explained the concoction is specifically mixed up the day the client arrives as it must be used quickly and cannot be stored. “The infusion process takes anywhere from 2 to 4 hours,” she said. “Years ago, this was just used to help with addiction recovery, but now the primary use is for brain function.”

Another service Dr. Burns likes to focus on is Regenerative Injection therapy (RIT), which is known for stimulating the healing process. “It’s good for your joints, cartilage, ligaments, muscles, and tendons because it uses your own cellular matrix to heal the affected areas.” Anti-inflammatory meds that most people use can treat pain, but can often suppress the healing process. RIT uses a mixture of a person’s own platelet-rich plasma to stimulate the body’s natural ability to heal. The most common uses are ACL injuries, rotator cuff injuries, golfer’s elbow, Achilles’ tendonitis, sports injuries, and tennis elbow.

Yet another speciality of Big Sky Natural Health is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). While many people associate a hyperbaric chamber with assisting scuba divers who have risen to the surface too quickly while diving, it actually has great benefits when it comes to wound healing. HBOT involves breathing in oxygen at a high pressure to help overcome infections. When more oxygen is delivered to areas of the body in higher concentrations, it allows the blood to carry oxygen more effectively to those areas that need healing. “It stimulates new tissue growth for a quicker natural recovery by creating new blood vessels, increasing the regenerative process, and removing toxins,” Dr. Burns said. “Most clients lay in the chamber anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes.”
