Blackbird is a full-service design company that takes projects from concept to completion. In March 2021, Sarah thought she would create the company as a side job after encouragement from family and friends, but there’s been no downtime since! From studs to finish, Sarah, with demolition help from her husband, completes all kinds of interior design work. Sarah does this with any budget, and stresses “living space that is beautiful does not have to be expensive.”
“Your project will be the only thing on my mind.” Sarah knows the importance of loving your space, and being able to come home happy and relaxed. Before the time of Pinterest, with little to spend and big dreams, Sarah completed a small flip on her first home, learning as she refinished furniture and put in flooring. In her second home, a foreclosure, she revamped the basement, added a bathroom, and tore down walls. Family and friends began asking for her input on redesigns, so Sarah started to post her advice and work on social media. After an infuriated friend was on month seven of a bathroom renovation, Sarah realized the need for reliable contractors. She prides Blackbird on sequential efficiency and only takes on one project at a time.
When do you know that you need a designer? “There is this notion that only rich people can afford a designer; people view it as a luxury. But everyone deserves to feel happy in their home, and we can make it happen with any budget.” Sarah says an interior designer is needed at the beginning of a project, especially a new build. “Hire us in the beginning; this will save you time, money, and angst. So many people renovate a space, and then it doesn’t work for them. Our homes are our sanctuary. You should love coming home to it. We are here to think of the big picture. I want to help the look, feel, and function of your spaces!”
How does it work?
First, contact Sarah to start a discussion about needs, budget, and style. Sarah will view your space and see for herself why it’s not working.
Next, Sarah designs a mood board for the space and will discuss and receive feedback from you.
Then, you may choose to continue with a design consult, where you would decide how to implement the vision.
After that, you may decide to have Sarah make the vision become reality.
Finally, you come home to a space that feels the way you want it to feel—like home.
