We are thrilled to hear that this year's Pantone color of the year is classic blue. The timing could not be more perfect. After a period of much neutrality in design, homeowners are beginning to yearn for bold uses of color and classic blue is both a fearless standout and a classic that will stand the test of time.
This classic blue color in addition to variations of the shade can work in any room. (Image #1)
Fearless greens and fuschias can be layered for the adventurous, or simple whites, wood tones, and neutral textures can be implemented for a more relaxed environment where the blue takes center stage. (Image #2)
From a powder bathroom lacquered fully in Classic blue to kitchen cabinets, artwork, or sofas in a living room, it is a color that works well as a base that can be built upon in more ways than one. (Image #3)

Classic blue will forever pair well with crisp white, but I currently love the unexpected play of the color with Farrow and Ball's Studio Green and Brinjal for a moody space with a lot of depth. We have used Classic blue in mostly neutral spaces in the form of pillows or art, but I also love it in wallpaper wrapping an entire room, or the base color for other colors and materials to build upon. In fact, many of our clients have fallen in love with blue, but it has largely been in the navy family or soft blues, so the vibrant energy in classic blue is very exciting! The color is also dual-purpose and functional as you can make blue work for both a masculine and feminine space. For example, pairing the shade with Farrow and Ball Dead Salmon, light wood tones, and decadent textures feels feminine, soft, and implies a slightly vintage tone. (Image #5)
For a masculine space, I would love to incorporate sophisticated wood grain, black modern elements, and graphic art. (Image #6)

Overall, I believe this color has already stood the test of time! It strikes a wonderful balance that allows it to serve as an anchor in interiors, or as a bold vibrant accent. It is a color that feels at once classic, wild, and pop art. It really is a chameleon among its blue family members.
