“When I moved to the area in 2017 with my husband and son, I was wanting a career change from my former tech career. I saw a huge need for transportation services, so I formed Hill Country Crown SUV.” Providing rides to the San Antonio and Austin airports and eventually focusing on wine tours, Kristie Kniesel saw a need and filled it. After extensive market research, she discovered that none of the numerous tour companies in Fredericksburg were interested in coming to Boerne to pick up passengers.
"Since I was doing so well before and after COVID, I bought a domain and began building my specialty brand. Boerne Wine Tours boasts two vehicles now: a black Ford Expedition with three rows, able to seat seven people, in the luxury of leather seating; and an eleven-passenger Mercedes Sprinter Van, with the high-roof." Teri Hauger, a Cordillera resident, has partnered with Kristie and obtained the van exclusively for Boerne Wine Tours. Both vehicles are already in great demand.
Kristie plans to expand her tours to the wonderful distilleries in Comfort, Hye, Johnson City and along U.S. Highway 281. She also introduces her passengers to a great lunch at one of the many eateries along the route. When asked about touring breweries, Kristie stated she didn’t want to take away from the fabulous breweries and brew pubs located in Boerne. Her favorite tour includes visits to St. Tryphon’s, Singing Waters and Bending Branch. Costs for the tours is included on the website. She credits her fellow members in Hill Country Women in Business for getting her first driving business off the ground.
