Boutique Hotel Round-Up

Kansas City has no shortage of boutique hotels to enjoy for a relaxing weekend getaway that is chalked-full of charm and class. Each location carefully curated an atmosphere that boasts style and comfort and is surrounded by entertainment venues, shopping and eateries. This isn’t a comprehensive list by any means, but we wanted to share a few of our favorite local boutique hotels that are sure to impress.

HOTEL INDIGO

Housed in the beautifully renovated 1930s-era Brookfield Building which held ticket offices for various train stations, the Hotel Indigo Kansas City Downtown offers a reminder of the rail lines that put this city on the map. As a nod to this 12-story tower’s past, the 118 guest rooms are styled with travel-themed touches—including postcard and postmark designs in rooms—and the lobby features a train mural. You can start the day with a cup of locally brewed Parisi coffee before heading out to must-see spots like Union Station, the Arvest Bank Theater, legendary jazz clubs and world-class restaurants just steps from the hotel.

No Vacancy

Opening in this environment has proven the importance of adaptability. The concept pivoted as inquiries began pouring in from small groups wanting to rent out the whole place. The ‘hotel buyout’ allows guests to enter a clean and curated environment and trace all who come in. It’s essentially like stepping into your own personal hotel. Fortunately, the place offers ample room for distancing, a courtyard for outside hangs, keyless check-in, no shared ductwork, and operable windows. Additionally, hotels are “essential businesses,” so guests never have to worry about the hotel canceling.

Located on the far west side of Country Club Plaza, The Fontaine, a four-diamond property offers “approachable luxury.” With 132 rooms, including nine suites and an 1,800 sq. ft. presidential suite with private pavilion, The Fontaine is ideal for corporate and personal travel, including a variety of events for all guests. There are two ballrooms, flexible meeting spaces, as well as an outdoor serenity garden for private events. Specializing in guest experience, this boutique hotel has focused on activating the property with socially distanced pop-up events and offerings such as wellness classes, virtual floral design, and most recently, Nine Zero One Igloo Bar.
