Eat, Drink & Be Merry

Forgo traditional holiday meals with large entrees meant to be shared.

During the holiday season, what is better than enjoying a large, festive meal with friends or family? To cultivate atmospheres of community, these Houston restaurants are serving up meals meant to be shared.

Raan (whole, slow-roasted leg of lamb) at modern Indian cuisine restaurant Musaafer is not only roasted to perfection but is also a tradition that dates back to ancient times. “No celebration is complete without sharing, and no meal is as flavorful as the one had over love, laughter, philosophy, and storytelling,” says Musaafer co-owner Mithu Malik. “At Musaafer, we celebrate the most cherished aspect of our culture with the Raan, the leg of lamb which itself is a celebration of friendship between Greek King, Alexander the Great, and the Indian King Porus.”

Fried chicken is what’s on the menu at Ford Fry’s concept La Lucha where executive chef Bobby Matos consistently delivers on the best bird in town. The restaurant offers a whole or half order served with fresh-baked biscuits, pickles, and a wide selection of sauces. If you’re more partial to the sea, Ouzo Bay plates up a whole Branzino with lobster relish that is perfect for sharing.
