Breitling Boutique Spotlight

Slade and Cindy Lewis - Passionate Advocates for Community

Every month here at The Woodlands City Lifestyle we like to take a moment and make connections between local business owners and our amazing community. This month we are highlighting Slade and Cindy Lewis. The husband and wife duo not only own the Breitling Boutique in Market Street but many other businesses around Houston as well.

Slade and Cindy stand out not only as successful business owners but as passionate advocates for the community. Through their thriving jewelry businesses, (they also own renowned Lewis Jewelers), and their vibrant culinary ventures, they embody the spirit of connection, celebration, and philanthropy.

A Passion for Joy and Connection

Cindy Lewis's motto captures the essence of their work: "Fostering celebrations of all kinds and making people happy is my passion." This guiding principle is evident in every piece of jewelry they create, each designed to commemorate life’s special moments. Slade echoes this sentiment, noting how the jewelry business opens doors to new opportunities and meaningful connections. Together, they have built a brand that thrives on the joy of celebrating life's milestones, from engagements to anniversaries.

A Legacy of Giving Back

Their commitment to community is profound, stemming from personal experiences that shaped their values. Their youngest son, Levi, born with liver issues, inspired the couple to give back. Now a strong and healthy 19-year-old, Levi’s journey led the Lewises to establish a wing at Texas Children's Hospital’s Dialysis Center, where they have been raising funds for over 18 years. Their firsthand experience with the hospital's compassionate care ignited their desire to support children facing health challenges.

Cindy's involvement in philanthropic organizations extends to the Friendswood Independent School District (FISD) Education Foundation Board, reflecting her belief in the importance of education and community support. Slade, with a background in orthopedic medicine, remains active in the medical field as a board member of HCA and the Fibroblast Company, emphasizing their commitment to both healthcare and education.

An Impressive Portfolio

Lewis Jewelers has made significant strides beyond local engagements. As the Official Jeweler of University of Houston Athletics, they have established a prominent presence in the sports community. Their relationship with NASA is particularly noteworthy; the Lewises have designed custom pieces of jewelry that have been sent on every space mission, including memorable items that accompanied the Challenger crew. This unique intersection of art and science showcases their versatility and innovative spirit. One of my favorite stories they tell, however, involves the Kelly brothers and the International Space Station.

In a remarkable intersection of space, family, and impeccable customer service, a story unfolded in 2016 involving retired astronaut Mark Kelly and his brother, Scott Kelly, who was aboard the International Space Station (ISS). During a dinner in New York, Mark received a call from Scott, who found himself in a bit of a predicament. While on a mission, his Breitling Cosmonaut watch had its bracelet snagged on a handrail, rendering it unusable.

Understanding the urgency, Scott reached out to Mark, knowing he is a Breitling ambassador. “Can you help me get this fixed?” he asked, highlighting the trust and connection that exists even in the vastness of space.

Mark sprang into action. He coordinated with a crew member leaving for Baikonur, sending a repair kit to Houston just days before the Soyuz launch. Remarkably, within a mere three days, the watch repair kit made its journey from Houston to Baikonur and then up to the ISS, showcasing an extraordinary example of quick thinking and collaboration.

This story survives to reflect the personal connections that can bridge vast distances but also underscores the ethos of service and community that the Lewis family embodies in their own endeavors.

In addition to their jewelry business, the couple has recently expanded into the culinary world with two restaurants: Good Vibes Coastal Kitchen in Pearland and Good Vibes Coastal Cantina in League City. These establishments reflect their philosophy of creating joy through food and community.

Style and Recognition

Cindy’s flair for fashion has also garnered attention, earning her a feature in Harper's Bazaar magazine. This recognition speaks to her influence not only as a businesswoman but as a trendsetter in the industry.

A Unique Bond

Beyond their professional pursuits, Slade’s connection to sports shines through his dedication to running marathons alongside a special friend who is blind and deaf. This bond illustrates his belief in overcoming challenges and highlights the importance of support and community.

Looking Ahead

As Slade and Cindy Lewis continue to thrive in their diverse endeavors, their story is one of resilience, compassion, and celebration. They are not just business leaders; they are pillars of the community, committed to making a difference through work and philanthropy. Their journey exemplifies how passion and purpose can lead to meaningful connections, fostering a legacy that will inspire future generations.
