Local favorite Savage Brewing Company is a charming taproom that’s welcoming to families with kids and dogs alike. A hallway chalkboard and table-top ring toss games provide some entertainment for the children, and dogs can order treats and water bowls. Savage was founded in 2019 by married couple Will and Layken Savage, who dreamed of brewing craft beer. October 2020 saw the production facility and taproom open in Totem Lake. You can often find experimental small batch brews among the twelve rotating taps, along with drafts including IPAs, pilsners, sours, stouts, lagers, and German and wheat style beers - Savage aims to brew something for everyone. Try the 51 Savage (a collaboration with Lofa Tatupu) or SLO West Coast IPA. Last time I was there, I had a delicious soft pretzel and I highly recommend it.
