GL: How have you built confidence and/or resiliency over the course of your career?

As a business grows so too does greater responsibility. Failure is never an option when you are responsible for more than just yourself. There have been many times throughout my career that I have been forced to face serious challenges. Every time I have faced adversity, I have worked together with my team to address the problems. It is within these struggles where my greatest inspiration for positive change comes.

GL: What's the best part of your job?

The best part of my job has been working so closely with a great group of family, friends and colleagues to create a meaningful presence within the communities we serve. Over the years we have continued to focus our business on how we can use our store locations as a force for good. Creating a deep sense of purpose for our stores in true service to our communities is by far the best part of my job.

GL. What does success mean to you?

Success means so much to so many and yet how to measure it isn’t so simple. We strive to make our client’s pets lives better through good animal nutrition and a more holistic approach to wellness. As stewards of this family-owned community-based business, we are grateful to our clients for believing in us and relying on us to help them foster long healthy lives for their furry family members.

Lewis Liebert is the CEO of Performance Flight, a successful aviation company. He is a prominent entrepreneur throughout Westchester and Fairfield Counties. He still maintains ownership in other enterprises and is frequently engaged in freelance business consulting.

GL: How have you built confidence over the course of your career?

It’s been hard to build confidence. I know we’re great at what we do, our earnest commitment to being the best is clear; but the level of competition is so high that it always keeps me grounded. It’s always a push. Resiliency comes from knowing how good we really are. My team is unmatched and exemplify the ideals I’ve established for the organization, and we all stick together like family. When we’re in our groove and supporting each other while working towards common goals, that’s how we stay resilient because we know we’re on the right path.

GL: What's the best part of your job?

For all the travel required in my role, almost all the flights are done privately and there’s nothing cooler than that! The freedom to get in a plane and go somewhere is something most people will never have an opportunity to appreciate. The best part of my job has been the opportunity to develop relationships with the clients. They’re all interesting; each smart and successful and people who I really enjoy.

GL: What does success mean to you?

It’s hard to define success. It’s not necessarily financial; don’t get me wrong it’s great to see the company do well by the almighty measure. But the true feeling of success for me has been developing new divisions to a point where they run smoothly, allowing me to move on to the next opportunity for growth. The sense of success comes from expanding and maturing the company; I think I’m constantly striving for success but never feeling like I’ve made it.
