At barre3, movement is not just an activity; it’s a mindset.

Members are challenged to turn off autopilot and be fully present in their bodies during class.

“Our instructors are trained in a way to cue our clients to not just ‘perform’ a movement, but to be tuned in, aware, and feeling all the sensations,” explains barre3 Newtown owner/operator Lauren Ziel. “When we're tuned in, we can explore deeper and grow our body strength and wisdom.”

With that goal in mind, the barre3 team is adding a new class to the docket in 2025. Alongside their signature, strength and cardio classes, the studio now will offer b3 Mindful Flow 45.

“B3 Mindful Flow 45 is our ‘active’ approach to restorative and mobility-based programming, unique to the barre3 brand,” says Lauren. “Through its combination of breath-driven movement, considerate cueing, and accessible sequencing, the goal of this class is to increase functional mobility, flexibility and stability in our clients.”

Like all barre3 programming, the new class focuses on “full-body, functional movement,” she says. Participants aren’t striving for perfection, but for growth.

“When we take on challenges and push through the hard stuff, we grow stronger and we feel proud of ourselves for committing and not giving up, and that's the best feeling of all," she says.

The new class debuts in conjunction with the 2025 Commitment to Self program designed to help members build a sustainable foundation for healthy habits.

“When messages like ‘New Year, New You’ fill the space, we want to remind our clients: They're always exactly where they need to be, wherever they are,” Lauren says. “Instead of change for change’s sake alone, we're focused on growth, aligning our actions with how we want to show up in the world.”

The studio is offering a number of deals as the new year kicks off to encourage people to stop waiting for the “right time” and get started on meeting their goals one class at a time. Through early February, new members can get 50 percent off their first month of membership with a three-month commitment.

Additionally, Lauren says those not ready for a membership can take their first barre3 class for free. The studio also offers new clients a two-week special with unlimited access to classes over 14 days, making it easy for the uninitiated to try a variety of classes.

“We try to keep it simple and not overwhelm anyone with too many choices and big decisions,” she adds. “We have enough of that in other areas of life.”

Barre3 classes and their focus on mindfulness encourage people to reframe restrictive views of movement and instead view it as a gift to both the mind and body.

“I always like to remind our clients, especially women who tend to give to others before themselves: You can't pour from an empty cup,” Lauren explains. “Make time and take time for you. It will make you a better mom, wife, sister, friend, employee or boss. However you show up for others, you'll do it better when you show up for yourself as well.”

After 11-plus years in business, Lauren is still blown away by the community that has flourished at barre3.

“We're here for the new friendships and the celebrations, we come together through illness and loss, and we're truly stronger together,” she says. “In a divisive world where we struggle with so much in our daily lives, we meet at barre3 in unity and peace to be reminded that we are more alike than different.”

Invitation To Readers: On Feb. 13 from 7-9 p.m., Newtown City Lifestyle and barre3 will co-host a Galentine’s Health Expo. Located at the barre3 studio, 43 Summit Square Center, the event will feature somatic energy coach Colleen Faltot as a guest speaker, and will focus on helping attendees shed stress and embrace their power and more at-peace selves.
