Walking through a thrift store can be fun, but overwhelming. More often than not, finding a vintage piece to decorate your home feels impossible. Luckily, we have Brooke Cole to picking for us. Brooke travels all over the country finding vintage antiques for her shop Brooklyn Finds Design Co. When Brooke first started thinking about opening her shop it was the community support that really got her started. She first showcased her work in local markets across Colorado. After enough members of the community told her she needed a shop of her own, she did it. Finding a sweet cozy spot in downtown Greeley was easy, after redecorating and painting over the horrid salmon pink walls, she opened her doors within a couple of months.
Opening your own shop requires hard constant work, and when Covid-19 hit it seemed nearly impossible. Brooke’s grand opening went from cookies and balloons, to masks and hand sanitizer. “I was drinking out of the fire hose,” said Brooke. But lucky for us, that did not stop her! A year later and her shop is still going strong. Brooke overcame every challenge that was thrown at her. Her dream of having a small market changed to being a full-time shop owner. Thanks to her dedication, Greeley now has a unique vintage interior design shop that is built around the principal of community.
Connecting with the people is what the job is all about for Brooke. Developing a relationship with her customers is her favorite part. “I hope that when people come in, they can share their story and their heart, and just enjoy being here,” said Brooke. Her love and support for her community shines through in her shop. "I want to encourage small business. There are more than a dozen different businesses represented in my store." Getting vintage pieces means designing your home with history. From candles to earrings; spectacles to posters; Brooklyn Finds Designs has the best items to decorate your home.
What could make Brooke even better? How she is always thinking about you. Bring in a photo of a space you are trying to decorate, and she will find you a piece to match. Whether that means something already in store or finding something specifically for you while she is travelling the country. “I can find unique pieces with a collective feel for a small budget,” Brooke said. To Brooke it is about more than design. Getting to know her customers is such an important part of the job. “You want your home to represent who you are.” With Brooke’s help interior design is made easy, fun, and unique to you.
Brooke has now lived in Greeley for 15 years with her husband and four children. A University of Northern Colorado graduate who was even asked to help design part of the campus. Her background in sociology and family studies has benefitted her interior design skills by understanding the needs of each person that walks in the door. She has also studied interior design in New York City, mainly working with loft and apartment design. Her passion for vintage finds was inspired by the antiques she had in her home growing up. When she became a homeowner herself, finding antiques at thrift stores was the cheapest way to design her home. Brooke started her shop as a way to be a part of the community, staying true to herself and why she started in the first place. Now she has blessed us with her unique gift; using her keen eye to find the perfect vintage piece for you.
“Vintage Markets are such a great community, filled with fellow creatives sharing their gifts. I'm a designer who loves people and building those connections.”
