Brotherhood. Purpose. Healing. More Than Recovery.

Sangha, meaning "community" in Sanskrit, is more than a sober home; it's a recovery community built on connection, purpose, and support for men starting over.

Sangha is a nonprofit men’s recovery community in Tulsa, founded in 2018 by native Tulsan Marcus Abernathy. We serve men transitioning from treatment or alternative sentencing by providing a holistic, structured environment. Unlike most programs, we never charge for room and board. Thanks to the support of donors and foundations, we’re able to offer expert staff, team-building experiences, and personalized life skills training. At Sangha, recovery means more than just abstaining from substance use—it’s about discovering your purpose, reconnecting with your community, and becoming the man you were meant to be.

How does Sangha support men in recovery? Sangha is a recovery community that treats the whole person—not just the addiction. Our approach is rooted in the Eight Dimensions of Wellness: mental, physical, emotional, social, spiritual, environmental, financial, and occupational.

What sets us apart? We’re a nonprofit. Thanks to local foundations, ODMHSAS, and private donors, our residents never pay room and board. That means every man has access to a safe, structured home, professional guidance, and opportunities for personal growth—regardless of his financial situation.

What kind of leadership and guidance do residents receive at Sangha? Each house is led by senior residents who model strong recovery and peer leadership. Our expert staff walks alongside our men, helping them develop the skills, discipline, and confidence to thrive outside of addiction.

What kinds of resources and opportunities does Sangha provide to support recovery? Through career support, gym access, team-building outings, and community service, we help men rebuild their lives from the inside out.

Recovery at Sangha isn’t about just getting by—it’s about building a life worth living.

“Because of Sangha, I didn’t just recover—I rediscovered who I am, and I finally believe I have something to offer the world.”
