Over recent years, the unconventional career of bloggers and influencers have taken the internet and social media by storm. They have their own medium to share their voices on all things lifestyle-related.  In the case of Since The Nashville Mom, Dawn Burns, purchased the Lifestyle business from Lindsey McPherson back in 2017, Dawn has perfected her take on all things Nashville.

Dawn, moved to Nashville a few years ago from Greenville, South Carolina.  She is also a graduate from Clemson University.  “Go Tigers” she was quick on her feet to say.  She always wanted to live here in Nashville and when the opportunity arose, her and her family jumped at the chance.  Since then, Dawn has grown her followers on Instagram by over 16,000 ands become a fixture on the social scene.

TheNashvilleMom.com is a great place for people to get information to all things related to fun with your family.   Events, festivals, restaurants and many other activities can be found on her website.

And let’s not forget her Instagram page!  Dawn’s posts and stories are always full of great things to do.  Not just for the family but for pretty much anyone to get ideas about date night, travel, great reads, shopping, giveaways, events and so much more.

We asked Dawn to share her “Bucket List”.  Here are some of her highlights of things to do in the summertime here in Nashville with your kids.

bucket list item #1

SoundWaves! SoundWaves is one of our favorite ways to beat the heat with indoor and outdoor water amenities. Gaylord Opryland’s Water Resort features two lazy rivers, slides, a wave pool, an activity pool with a climbing wall, a play zone for younger children and more! We love experiencing a fun vacation without leaving Nashville.

bucket list item #2

Chasing Waterfalls! Our family loves exploring area hikes and waterfalls. A few of our favorites are Jackson Falls, the West Meade Waterfall and Stillhouse Hollow Falls.

bucket list item #3

Ice Cream Crawl! Each summer, we love taste testing local ice cream shops to vote on our favorite flavor. A few of most visited spots for a tasty treat are Bobbie’s Dairy Dip, Jeni’s Ice Cream, The Ice Cream Bar in Nashville and Kilwin’s.

bucket list item #4

Cheekwood: Cheekwood offers family-friendly events throughout the year! During the summer, we enjoy exploring the gardens, the TRAINS and are especially having fun in the Bracken Foundation Children’s Garden!

bucket list item #5

Floating down the Harpeth! Having the Harpeth River is so much fun! One of our favorite ways to spend a summer afternoon is canoeing. We’ve rented canoes through Canoe Music City and loved canoeing in the Harpeth River State Park. Harlinsdale Farm and across from Carnton are a few other launch locations.

bucket list item #6

Berry Picking! There’s nothing better in the summer than picking fresh blueberries and making a cobbler or topping with a scoop of ice cream. A few places to pick Blueberries around Middle Tennessee are Kelley’s Berry Farm, Circle S Farms and Berries on the Bend.

bucket list item #7

Nashville “Beaches," While Middle Tennessee doesn’t have a close beach, we are lucky to have a few lakes with some “beachy” areas. A few family friendly spots are Anderson Road Recreation, Smith Springs Park, Long Hunter State Park and Cook Day to name a few.
