The Impact of Local Organizations on Community Investment

In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life. However, amidst our busy schedules, it's crucial to remember the importance of investing in our communities. One way to do this is by actively participating in local organizations such as Rotary International and the Smyrna Business Association (SBA). These organizations serve as pillars of support, fostering connections, and driving positive change within our neighborhoods.

With a network of over 1.2 million members across the globe, Rotary International is dedicated to tackling humanitarian challenges. Through their six areas of focus, including promoting peace, fighting disease, and supporting education, Rotary empowers individuals to make a tangible difference in their communities. Matt Jarrod, President of The Rotary Club of Vinings Cumberland shared, 'This January, we gave out over $123,000 in grants to local children's charities making it a total of $1.6 Million given to local charities in our 27 year history. Race sponsors like Printpack, Paces Ferry Veterinary Clinic, Lockton, and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, and many others make these significant grant funds possible!' Additionally, since July 1st, the club has logged more than 735 volunteer service hours.

Local chapters like The Smyrna Rotary Club serve as engines of change, spearheading projects that address pressing issues within our neighborhoods. From supporting literacy programs to organizing school supply drives, these clubs embody the spirit of service, making our communities stronger and more resilient.

The Smyrna Business Association (SBA) is another vital force driving community development. Since its inception, the SBA has worked tirelessly to enhance Smyrna's connectivity and vibrancy. Through initiatives like the annual business expo and educational workshops, the SBA fosters entrepreneurship and economic growth.

SBA member and President-elect, Burke Scott, emphasizes the association provides a platform for local business owners to connect, collaborate, and thrive. He says, 'The Smyrna Business Association empowers our local business owners, like me, through connection with each other and with the community at large by providing monthly networking and education events where we can meet and share ideas.' Moreover, the SBA's commitment to giving back to the community through scholarships, donations, and support for public safety initiatives underscores its dedication to creating a better Smyrna for all.

Investing in your community is not just a responsibility; it's an opportunity to create meaningful change and forge lasting connections. Whether through Rotary International or the Smyrna Business Association, every individual has the power to make a difference. By joining these organizations, you become part of a collective effort to build a brighter future for Smyrna, Vinings, and beyond.
