Building Relationships One Room at a Time

Gift yourself a dream kitchen this holiday season

A kitchen is the heart of every home. It’s where families and friends gather for everyday meals, conversations, and celebrations. Making it a beautiful and functional space will bring even more joy this holiday season.

Magnolia Home Remodeling Group in Union can create the kitchen of your dreams. Founded in 1996 by Vic Fiore and his brother-in-law Chris Fontana, this family-owned and operated business now has over 20 employees, including project managers, business managers, sales reps and office staff to handle every detail of both big and small jobs.

However, Vic and Chris are still hands-on when it comes to working alongside their staff to ensure jobs are going smoothly and customers are satisfied. “We try to keep a very tight control on these projects and how we manage them,” says Vic. “We have a solid network of installers that we've been using for many years who are tested and proven. We all care deeply about the finished product.”

Vic loves that every job is unique since it’s dependent on homeowners’ tastes, lifestyles, home sizes and budgets. But, it’s important to keep in mind that investing in high-quality items means they will not only look great initially but remain attractive and useful for years to come.

For kitchens, homeowners want a bright, fresh look and so white cabinets are still on trend, as are stainless steel appliances, which are easy to keep clean and go with any décor. Appliances can also be made to blend in with cabinets for a seamless flow. Double ovens are popular and make it possible to bake cookies and roast a chicken all at the same time. Wine fridges and coffee bars are additional features that add a little fun and pizzazz to every kitchen.

Choosing wide-plank luxury vinyl flooring which is durable plus water and scratch resistant can bring warmth to monochromatic cabinets.  While quartz and granite countertops add character, look great and hold up to lots of use. Backsplashes are an important design feature that adds color and contrast as well, and while there are tons of options, picking something that will stay in style for many years is smart.

Lots of countertop space is critical, especially if you have a larger family and/or like to entertain. This is one reason why islands are so popular. They add that extra workspace that can also be used for dining, thus providing a dual purpose. Islands can also inject some great contrast with accent wood or color cabinets, and including a waterfall edge adds a little something special.

While sinks can range from basic stainless steel to fancy cast-iron enamel, most people still want those that are sunken into the countertop. And don’t forget to add a pot filler over the stove and spare your arms from carrying those heavy water-filled pots. It’s these little things that can make the most difference when preparing meals. Speaking of pots, pot drawers are also useful. No more reaching in and searching around deep cabinets trying to find the right one.

Another important feature in any kitchen is proper lighting - not only for ambiance, but so you can see when measuring ingredients and chopping food. Styles range from very simple pocket lights to luxurious glass globes.

Whether homeowners want a minor refresh or to have a room totally gutted and remodeled, the Magnolia team is with them every step of the way. “We’re always grateful when people consider us, and we offer projects that can fit most budgets,” he says. “It doesn't have to be a super expensive high-end project.”

Treating customers right is how they’ve successfully grown a business with a solid reputation. “We're ethical, and people are hiring us in good faith, so we want to deliver on what they're expecting from us. We also want to build relationships and have them consider us again in the future.”

The only way to do this is through constant oversight. “It's a lot of checking up and monitoring,” he says. “From the initial design and planning phase to completion, there's a series of milestones that have to be met in order to get to the desired finished product. You have to stay in communication with not only the homeowners but with the installers as well, throughout the whole process.”

Vic explains that there are sometimes changes to plans or adjustments that need to be made, whether required or requested by a homeowner who decides to do something different or additional after the project starts. With almost 30 years of experience, Vic, Chris and their team can negotiate these unexpected situations and find alternative solutions that will make everyone happy.

While kitchens, bathrooms and basements are a major part of what they do, Magnolia also expertly handles exterior remodeling projects such as porches and steps, walkways, siding and windows, as well as outdoor living amenities such as patios and decks. And if there’s something they can’t do, they’ll let you know.

“Whether we can do the job or not, we make sure we always call people back,” he says.
