As a college student, Dr. Miriam Hall says she wasn’t initially sure what type of dentistry she wanted to specialize in, until she took a Gateway to Dentistry program. “I saw before and after pictures of people’s teeth, and how it changed someone’s face and smile, increased their self-confidence and the way they presented themselves,” she recalls. “I'm drawn to aesthetics and I love helping people, so I wanted to tie those together in some way.”
After completing her education with a specialty in Orthodontics and Dento-facial Orthopedics at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Hall dreamed of one day opening her own practice. That dream came true in June of 2020 when Hall Orthodontics opened its doors in Nashville.
“I’m grateful for a career that allows me to do what I love every day,” she says. “It’s been such a rewarding experience. I’ve built so many strong relationships with patients over the years, with families and patients becoming lifelong friends.”
Hall Orthodontics is a boutique, esthetically driven practice offering the most technologically advanced treatments from regular and ceramic braces to Invisalign and Inbrace lingual braces. Dr. Hall also offers treatment for TMD (temporomandibular disorders) and airway issues.
Before any treatment takes place, she believes it’s imperative to learn as much as possible about her patients to devise customized treatment plans. “Our consultations are really focused on getting to know our patients, what drives them and what is the best option for them to achieve the best results possible. One of my favorite aspects of being an orthodontist is the opportunity to treat and build relationships with patients of all ages.”
She prides herself on the personal customer service she and her team offer to patients. “We want people to be excited to come to their appointments and be the best part of their day. I’m so lucky to have the most amazing team by my side that shares the same values of taking care of our patients and providing a memorable, positive experience,” says Dr. Hall.
Playing soccer and being a competitive athlete from a young age has helped to shape Dr. Hall’s character. She was part of the Olympic development soccer team for several years and went on to be the captain of her college’s women’s team, where she received Division 1 Academic-Athlete honors. She says being a student athlete helped to cultivate a strong team-oriented approach to her practice with the emphasis of developing strong relationships with each patient.
“I’ve had patients and parents come in and tell me that one of the reasons they’ve chosen our office is because they searched for a female-owned practice or they were drawn to the fact that I was a scholar athlete. I always knew I wanted to be a business owner where I could be a role model for my own kids and other young adults, be my own boss, and take care of my patients and my team the way I wanted to. It’s been an incredible journey.”
Dr. Hall and her team are also truly passionate about giving back to the community. In October, for Breast Cancer Month, she donated a portion of the proceeds from the practice to the American Breast Cancer Foundation, and last December, the office became a drop-off location for Toys for Tots. For National Pet Month in April, she and her team did a pet supplies drive at the office and once again donated some of the proceeds, this time to the Nashville Humane Society. She and her team also spent a morning volunteering there.
Outside the office, Dr. Hall enjoys spending time with her husband, Tom, and their four children: Jacob, Mila, Easton and Renna. “I love to coach my kids' soccer teams, cook for my family and stay active and healthy,” she says. “I hope to set a good example and influence younger people to show that you can have a family, and you can be an orthodontist or anything you want to be as long as you work hard and follow your dreams!”
