When you walk into a freshly remodeled home, the transformation feels almost magical. Walls shifted, light reimagined, flow restored. But behind every seamless “after” photo is a contractor who knows how to hold a homeowner’s vision steady while navigating the reality of construction. For Plan Rebuild, that balance isn’t a marketing line, it’s the foundation of everything they do.

Owner Jeff Stewart, who grew up in a family of carpenters, has lived and breathed construction since his first high-school job. Residential remodeling felt like home from the start. “I’ve always wanted to work for myself,” he says, “and I’ve always loved the transformation that comes with remodeling.” What began as a passion has grown into a five-person team known across the Kansas City and Leawood area for meticulous work, thoughtful design, and a refreshingly modern approach to communication.

Plan Rebuild doesn’t approach projects with a one-size-fits-all aesthetic. Instead, they describe themselves as a blend of high-end vision and budget-friendly practicality. Their goal isn’t to force a particular look; it’s to elevate what homeowners want while honoring what they’re comfortable spending.

The process begins with an in-home consultation. Jeff walks the space, takes photos and measurements, and listens closely to how the homeowner lives in their home. From there, an estimate opens the door to the next phase—bringing in their trusted architect and in-house designer to begin plans and selections. It’s a full-service approach designed to take the intimidation out of remodeling from day one.

They’re known for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and whole-home remodels, but home additions have quietly become their specialty. “We enjoy all projects,” he says, “but additions have really become a sweet spot for us.”

Still, nothing shows their range quite like a recent whole-house remodel in Old Leawood, completed in late 2024, where the team transformed nearly every inch of a dated home into something custom and stunning. A dingy basement became a speakeasy, complete with a Murphy door entrance. Custom stair railings, large built-in cabinetry, and reglet drywall openings turned structural necessities into true architectural moments. It was a project that showcased not only craftsmanship but creativity and problem-solving at every turn.

Ask any homeowner about their worst renovation fear, and you’ll hear the same answer: poor communication. Plan Rebuild has turned that fear on its head.

“Communication is our top priority,” Jeff says. Homeowners receive a live construction schedule, daily updates, and a dedicated group text for quick questions and real-time check-ins. Change orders are discussed immediately and approved before any work begins—no surprises, no last-minute sticker shock.

This level of clarity is what truly sets Plan Rebuild apart. “We really care about our clients,” he says. “We’re always willing to talk through any issue and find a solution together.”

Renovation surprises, especially in older homes, are inevitable. Plan Rebuild relies on long-standing partnerships with local architects and engineering firms to address structural curveballs quickly and correctly. Every solution is reviewed and approved by the city, giving homeowners confidence that their home is both beautiful and safe.

Technology strengthens those assurances. Through Buildertrend construction management software, homeowners can see schedules, progress updates, documents, and communication all in one place. Its transparency has elevated.

Every subcontractor and supplier Plan Rebuild partners with is local. Aside from the occasional Lowe’s trip for tools or smaller needs, the team sources materials and talent from right here in the community, something that strengthens both quality control and relationships.

When a homeowner isn’t sure what they want, the team steps in with care. Their designer helps clarify vision, their architect looks at structural possibilities, and Jeff offers guidance based on years of hands-on experience. “I typically treat each project as if it were my own house,” he says. “I share what I’d do and what’s worked well in similar spaces.”

Home trends shift. Light woods, bright palettes, and airy finishes are popular now, but the impact of a remodel lasts far beyond any single style. If there’s one project homeowners consistently wish they’d done sooner? Basements. “They’re a fairly simple, not-super-expensive investment that completely changes how people live in their home,” he says.

And maybe that’s the heartbeat of Plan Rebuild: they aren’t just contractors. They’re collaborators, guides, craftsmen, and steady hands through a chaotic process. What they build isn’t just beautiful homes; it’s trust, comfort, and spaces people are proud to live in.
