One of the most meaningful investments you’ll ever make is in your home. It’s more than four walls and a roof; it’s your refuge at the end of a long day, the backdrop for birthday candles and holiday mornings, and the place where your family’s story unfolds. With so much life happening inside those walls, choosing the right partner for a renovation, addition, or custom build isn’t just important; it’s essential.

Enter Woodward Homes. Led by husband-and-wife team Mike and Elizabeth Jakubowski, the company is built on over 20 years of hands-on experience in the industry. After years of honing their craft with other companies, they created a business rooted in trust, craftsmanship, and a genuine commitment to the families they serve. From thoughtful renovations to fully custom homes, their team approaches every project with care, precision, and the confidence that comes from truly knowing what they’re doing.

“We learned a ton on what to do, but more importantly, what not to do,” Mike explains.
“When we started our business, it was solely focused on let's do a quality job, the best job that we can, and give people a good product, but also make sure that we're all over customer service and whatever our customer needs.”

That philosophy is reflected in the way Woodward Homes structures its entire process. Thanks to their business model, clients can rely on the team as a true one-stop shop. From the very beginning, they handle the measurements, draft the initial concepts, and immediately begin designing a floor plan tailored to both vision and budget. Instead of sending homeowners from one firm to another, they present a clear picture of what’s possible for the price, keeping everything under one roof and ensuring that the experience is seamless from first sketch to final build. The result is a home that feels as beautiful as it is practical, where thoughtful design meets everyday livability.

“The design is always client-driven,” Elizabeth explains. “You try to balance the design with really well-thought-out function-ability and listen to people, and it usually ends up working out pretty well and not being something too trendy for them, but giving them something new, fresh, and really functional for them.”

No two projects look the same, and that’s the point. Each home reflects the priorities and lifestyle of the family living in it. Mike has noticed a growing number of clients requesting features like red light saunas, a sign that homes are increasingly being designed with health and wellness in mind. But while many homeowners focus on what they’re adding, he encourages them not to overlook what may already be there. Houses built before 1978 should be properly tested for lead and asbestos before any renovation begins. Though these steps are often skipped, Mike emphasizes that protecting a family’s health is just as important as creating a space that feels beautiful and new.

“It definitely feels really good to work together because we're always trying to ensure the best product we can, whether that's through the design phase or through the construction phase, because we do work together,” Elizabeth says. “We're just always coordinating, no matter what time of day, so it works out really well for the client as well. We just always want to do a really good job and make people happy.”

For Mike and Elizabeth, the business is about more than building homes; it’s about building something together. They both light up when talking about what it means to run a family company side by side, and they admit it’s been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey. Even more special is the thought of what’s ahead: they can’t wait for their kids to grow up and, hopefully, take part in what they’ve created.

That shared foundation is what makes their partnership work so well.

“The best part about working together is I know her strengths and weaknesses, and she knows mine, and we definitely play off that,” Mike says. “She thinks I am the heart of the business, and I think she is. I couldn't do this without her.”
