Robert Kidd Gallery owner Gerard Marti was born in France, schooled at Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and later became a musician, songwriter, sound engineer, record producer and video director for EMI Records. After years in the recording industry, Marti was then inspired to merge his love of art and pop culture through a gallery venture that specialized in artworks by celebrities and musicians, including that of John Lennon, Miles Davis, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and more.

Mick Fleetwood, “Butterfly Collection”

Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac has proven to be not only one of rock’s greatest drummers but also an astute discoverer of great talent, pursuing other projects– like photography– with the same energy, drive and passion he puts into his drumming. In fact, Fleetwood has been known to observe his subject, most commonly in nature, for days to capture that “magic moment.”

“I have always been fascinated by the intricate structure and design found in nature, and my photography intends to unveil this invisible and orderly world that sometimes goes unnoticed,” Fleetwood said to Marti.

When he’s not on tour, Mick lives in Maui with his family. If he’s not playing golf with friends or rehearsing with fellow musicians, he likes to go around the island and take photos, specifically of flowers, landscapes and butterflies, which Fleetwood has dubbed “flying flowers.”

Fleetwood’s limited edition signed and numbered “Butterfly Collection,” among others, is available for purchase at Robert Kidd Gallery, which is located at 107 Townsend St. in Birmingham. For more information, visit robertkiddgallery.com.
