Cabinetry a Family Affair

No detail too small – No vision too large

Dalia Alvarez Perez grew up with two sisters and a younger brother. Dalia and her siblings were raised by a single mother, who instilled the value of resiliency in them, and that helped each of them move forward and shape different visions and careers. Now Dalia and her sisters, Patricia and Maria, have come together and opened Artistry Design Studio located in the Golden Plaza at 3302 Laventure Drive, Suite A110 in Chamblee.

Dalia, director of operations, handles administrative tasks, while Patricia and Maria are the senior designers. Together the siblings work as a team along with their younger brother, Victor Garcia Perez, on a vision and a mission to sell cabinets at a 100% customer satisfaction and to dominate the Buford Highway corridor.

Why cabinetry? Dalia explains it was about seven years ago when Patricia decided to start her journey in the cabinet industry as a sales associate. But the idea for the siblings to work together didn’t come until around 2024 when Patricia was asked to go to the West Coast to open a new warehouse. After successfully opening the warehouse and leaving it fully staffed and operational, she came back with experience and knowledge and the idea of venturing out on her own. Maria had been a stay-at-home mother, but Dalia says she was ready for a new business venture. Together, they created a business plan and pulled the trigger. In January 2020, they officially started sourcing a physical location for what would become their design studio and cabinet showroom.

At Artistry Design Studio they offer Ready to Assemble (RTA) products and some customization, depending on the fabricator chosen. They start with in home assessments. Dalia explains they come into your home to match the client with the best product available. “It also gives us the opportunity to take physical measurements of the space,” she says. Designing software is then used to create the designs and layout plans with 3D renderings for the customer to review. Then it’s on to the modification stage where the design team collects feedback from the client. “The client shares their personal likes or dislikes about the design,” Dalia says. “We have over 30 different types of styles and colors, and we help guide them through that decision making process by helping them understand the construction of the product they’re choosing.” Once selections are made, they deliver, and then experienced and knowledgeable carpenters install the product. Dalia says they work with homeowners, designers, contractors, builders and more. “It can be very overwhelming, specifically for a homeowner to manage all of the scopes (in a project), so we definitely help guide and provide necessary tools and vendor contacts, so they have everything they need to make decisions.”

The siblings grew up in Chamblee playing recreational soccer at Atlanta Eagles Arena and went to Cross Keys High School, and while Dalia says they understand they are in an American consumer economy, they also never lost their Latino roots. They are bilingual and bicultural. It’s this diversity that helps them when it comes to communicating with some clients and contractors. “Having that extra skill set, I think it’s great we’re able to tap into that,” she explains. “There are a lot of successful Latina female business owners out there, so we know right off the bat that we can be successful.”

Dalia stresses that it was important to find a location for their business in Chamblee. “It was super important that we were in our neighborhood,” she says. “There’s nothing like tapping into your own community for support.” After growing up in the area, Dalia recognizes the growth in the area. “We got to the stage where we said we want to be a part of the continuing change and thinking about how we can contribute to the development of our neighborhood.”

As business owners, Dalia says the siblings are adapting to working together as a team, each bringing unique and individual visions to the table. But one thing they agree on is that they are all working to make sure their business succeeds, and they don’t see failure as an option. Dalia says Victor, being the youngest, brings a sense of excitement and energy to the team.

“We are honest, hardworking, ethical business owners who love our community,” Dalia says. “We’re community oriented. We understand there are lots of options for cabinetry, but I think working locally with somebody around the corner, creates even a better opportunity for projects. It takes away some of the stress of having to source outside, managing timelines, and just our overall commitment to the client’s needs - There's no detail too small, and no vision too large.”
