Tell us about Canoe. How would you describe the menu offerings?
Canoe is an American (New) restaurant that combines multiple different cultures, focusing on ultra fresh seafood, organic and fresh salads and quality meats. We offer an incredible array of fresh, delicious foods starting with oysters on the half-shell paired with hand-crafted cocktails, followed by unbelievable entree choices like Chilean Sea Bass, Organic Scottish Salmon and Superior Angus Skirt Steak. No matter the dish you choose, you are sure to leave satisfied when you visit Canoe. We encourage our guests to ask about our five course Chef's Tasting Menu available upon request.
What is the dining experience like?
When you first visit Canoe, you are greeted by the sight of a stunning interior. Copper ceiling, exquisite artwork, unique blue hardwood floors plus stunning copper mash dividers and curtains. Very upscale, cozy and warm, a fun place to be with a great design. We wanted it to feel professional, yet warm and friendly paired with superb food! We carefully curated our menu and vibe to bring you a modern perspective on the flavors you love.
What is your favorite menu item?
It's hard to pick just one, but some of my personal favorite menu items are the Peking Duck Tacos with hoisin sauce, chili and shaved scallions and the Salmon Summer Roll with sashimi salmon, cucumber, avocado, tobiko and spicy mayo wrapped in a rice paper to start. You also can't go wrong with the Foie Gras Terrine, Tuna Crispy Rice, Squid ink Pasta or Chilean Sea Bass.
How is Canoe different from your other location, Beach House in Old Greenwich?
The two restaurants are actually very different. Beach House Cafe is very family-oriented in the heart of Old Greenwich, with a more relaxed, casual vibe where you will find all different ages and types of people. Canoe would be classified as more upscale, not only offering great food, but an excellent atmosphere too. It's a great place for a business lunch or dinner, date nights, any special occasions, etc.
When did you officially open and how has the response been thus far?
Since opening our doors on Monday, November 29, 2021, the response has been exceptional. We have met so many great customers (most who have become repeat visitors) that give us very positive feedback and great support. We are excited about our recent expansion in the Greenwich community and welcome all new guests into our restaurant who have not had the chance to try Canoe thus far.
Can guests visit for lunch and brunch too?
Canoe is open 7 days a week for both lunch and dinner. We also offer Happy Hour weekdays from 4pm-6:30pm with delicious small plates and drinks to choose from, as well as Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
Do you offer the option for guests to order online?
Yes, we do! We recommend customers order online through our website and one of our trusted delivery partners (i.e. ToastTab, Uber Eats, DoorDash or Grubhub). Our website also provides customers the opportunity to see food item pictures, descriptions and modifications online to help them make great tasting choices they will hopefully love.
Do you take reservations and how can we find out more about Canoe?
We recommend making dinner reservations in advance by calling us at 203-900-1211 or through OpenTable, especially on weekends as we are not a big restaurant. Customers can learn more about Canoe through our website www.canoegreenwich.com and via Facebook and Instagram @canoegreenwich or find us at 280 Railroad Avenue, Greenwich.
