Caring for the Whole Person

Dr. Kerri Keselowsky’s Role in Advancing Women’s Health at Monmouth Family Health Center

At Monmouth Family Health Center (MFHC), high-quality healthcare isn’t just about treating symptoms—it’s about addressing the whole person. Dr. Kerri Keselowsky, a board-certified OB/GYN, brings that mission to life every day through her compassionate, culturally competent care.

“We approach patients as whole people and work to break down barriers to healthcare access,” says Dr. Keselowsky. “That means addressing not just physical health, but social and mental well-being, too.” Fluent in Spanish, she says her ability to connect with many patients in their preferred language helps build the trust necessary for effective care.

Dr. Keselowsky’s journey into medicine was inspired by her mother, a nurse whose diagnostic skill and compassion left a lasting impression. “She’s always been my role model,” says Keselowsky. “She encouraged me to pursue medicine, and her example continues to guide me.” Choosing obstetrics and gynecology allowed her to focus on women’s health—a field she finds both personally and professionally fulfilling.

Teamwork plays a vital role in that fulfillment. “Everything we do in healthcare is collaborative,” she says. “From office visits to hospital care, it takes a dedicated team of support staff to ensure patients feel welcome and cared for.” The culture at MFHC—described by Keselowsky as fun, professional, and caring—makes it possible to deliver that consistent, high-quality care.

Staying current in the fast-moving medical field is another top priority. “I regularly read medical journals, attend conferences, and complete continuing medical education credits required by the state and our OB/GYN board,” she says. Collaborating with colleagues at Monmouth Medical Center also allows for constant peer learning.

In response to evolving patient needs, Dr. Keselowsky has expanded her clinical offerings in recent years. In addition to general gynecologic care, she now provides weight management treatments, fertility support, and comprehensive care for menopause and fibroids. “We want to meet patients where they are,” she says.

That personalized care model is especially important in a diverse community like Long Branch. “Everyone wants to be heard, respected, and healthy,” says Keselowsky. “I make sure every patient has time to share concerns and goals, regardless of age, background, or language.”

Patient input is crucial to her approach. “I make recommendations, but ultimately the patient is the boss,” she says. “There’s never just one path forward, and I want patients to feel confident in their choices.” She also encourages patients to bring a trusted support person to appointments when needed.

MFHC’s investment in innovation has further empowered Keselowsky’s care. “We offer therapy and medications for anxiety and depression, and we’ve upgraded our ultrasound machines for high-resolution imaging right in the office,” she says. These tools help provide comprehensive, accessible care to all patients.

In today’s complex medical landscape—marked by high costs and limited access—Keselowsky says MFHC’s commitment to affordable care, regardless of insurance status, is vital. “That support helps us continue to deliver on our mission,” she says.

Looking ahead, she’s focused on expanding specialty and preventive services for women of all ages. “That includes menstrual care, fertility support, contraception, menopause treatment, and more,” says Keselowsky. “We want to increase access to vaccines, screenings, and medications that help women thrive.”

For Dr. Keselowsky, it’s all about continuing to build a healthcare experience rooted in trust, access, and respect—one patient at a time.
