Each setup is tailored to your home’s layout and style. You simply send a photo of your porch, share your inspiration, choose your week for installation, and they handle the rest. The process is entirely contactless. You don’t even have to be home. And when the season ends, they’ll come back to remove and dispose of any live décor responsibly.
“Our goal is to take all the stress out of it,” says McKenzie. “You don’t have to lift a finger—we show up, do our thing, and you get to come home to something beautiful.”
The story behind Pretty Porch Co. starts not with a business plan, but with an instant friendship. Amanda and McKenzie met in 2012 through a Bible study group, both stay-at-home moms with a shared love of creativity, faith, and community, their friendship quickly became a constant in each other’s lives.
“We’ve been through every season of life together: marriage, motherhood, and now this business,” says McKenzie. “It’s really special to build something like this with your best friend.”
The business itself started on a whim. It was one of those ordinary, late-night conversations between friends that sparked an idea. After seeing a similar concept in Dallas, Amanda suggested decorating porches – just a random idea tossed out on a Thursday night. The very next morning, she bought a trunk full of pumpkins from a local produce stand and styled her own front porch. She posted a photo online and the response was immediate and overwhelming. Within 24 hours, the two friends had porch bookings, and by October 1, 2021, Pretty Porch Co. was officially launched.
“We didn’t overthink it—we just trusted our gut,” Amanda laughs. “It started with pumpkins on a porch, and it took off from there.”
As demand for their design expertise grew, so did their offerings. Clients began requesting help with balloon arches, custom backdrops, party styling, and special event setups. In response, Amanda and McKenzie launched Pretty Picnics—an all-inclusive experience that transforms any location into the perfect picnic celebration.
“Pretty Picnics let people slow down and be present,” says Amanda. “It’s not just cute decor—it’s creating an experience where people can connect, celebrate, and make memories.”
Each picnic is thoughtfully designed – from the tables and pillows to the florals, place settings, signage, and custom color palettes. Whether you’re planning a girls night, a romantic date, a bridal shower, or a birthday party, Pretty Porch Co. handles every detail. Want boho and earthy tones? Soft pastels and lace? A playful tea party setup? Done. These dreamy, one-of-a-kind experiences have quickly become a client favorite for creating something truly unforgettable.
Their work has taken them all over Missouri, decorating hundreds of porches along the way; but their commitment to their hometown has never changed. All pumpkins, plants, and produce are sourced from local farmers and at season’s end, what’s left is donated back to feed their animals. But their generosity goes far beyond the porch, Amanda and McKenzie regularly donate their time and services to support organizations like Help the Hungry, the Living Well Project, Strong Enough Women’s Conference, and the St. Joe Auction.
Their growth has been entirely organic. They’ve never paid for traditional advertising, relying instead on social media, word of mouth, and the kind of community trust that comes from doing good work for the right reasons.
