Celebrating 50 Years of Art in Houston

Bayou City Art Festival celebrates 50 years of providing unique art experiences and education for the greater Houston area.

For half a century, the fall season in Houston has been marked by the two-day Bayou City Art Festival celebrating art, unique artistic experiences and education. Known as one of the top art festivals in the country, the weekend event this year will again bring diverse artists together to celebrate the 50th Annual Bayou City Art Festival Downtown. Over two days at the unique outdoor venue with Houston skyline views, visitors can meet artists, view original works and purchase artworks from the 19 art disciplines, including paints, prints, jewelry, sculptures and more.

"For 50 years, Bayou City Art Festival has provided an outdoor oasis for thousands of diverse visual artists to showcase and connect with festival guests while transforming Houston's iconic streets and urban parks into lively outdoor art galleries," said Kelly Batterson, Executive Director of Art Colony Association. "In the process, the festival has raised more than $3.6 million for local nonprofits and supported art education and culture while inspiring Houstonians and festival-goers who want to experience world-class art and entertainment for all ages."

The Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park in the spring and the Bayou City Art Festival Downtown in the fall have provided a venue for over 20,000 artists to showcase their work to thousands of art lovers from around the world. The festival also features live music, a food truck park, wine and craft beer garden and Art Bar. For those looking for interactive fun, the Imagination Zone hosts the festival's nonprofit partners with hands-on activities for all ages.

This year's fall festival will occur October 8-9 in downtown Houston. Tickets will be available for purchase beginning August 1 and include a limited availability VIP ticket option. The VIP ticket experience consists of an oasis with light bites and complimentary beer, wine, and other beverages. The relaxing setting under a canopy of trees will feature roaming musicians, artistic décor, a phone charging station, and more. VIPs will receive all-day access to the VIP area and VIP parking. artcolonyassociation.org
