History was made in City by the Lake on June 2 when the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development unveiled a Tennessee Music Pathways Marker behind Moby Dicky’s Restaurant. Prior to becoming a restaurant, the site was the home of Morningstar Sound Studio, which produced 25 number one hits recorded by such legendary artists as Randy Travis, Dan Seals, George Jones and Anne Murray.
Along with unveiling the new music marker, the day also marked 40 years since Randy Travis released his debut album “Storms of Life,” which was recorded at Morningstar. In recognition of the anniversary, Governor Bill Lee issued a proclamation declaring the day as “Randy Travis Day.” To celebrate the occasion, the waterfront site was officially named Point Amen, in honor of Travis’ greatest hit “Forever and Ever, Amen.”
In addition to Randy Travis and his wife Mary, Morningstar co-founders Kyle Lehning and Tony Gottlieb, members of the Dan Seals family and many other dignitaries attended the event.
