A Spotlight on the Kirkland Chamber's Latest Addition

The Kirkland Chamber of Commerce leadership team grows with Jessica Hoover, their new Executive Director.

What led you to become Executive Director of the Kirkland Chamber?

In my previous role, I was a Vice President for a regional chamber of commerce and saw the impact a chamber could make on a community. When I was applying to this role, I was looking for an organization that had a strong balance of advocacy for businesses and opportunities for small businesses to get engaged. I was impressed by the Greater Kirkland Chamber of Commerce's ability to be innovative and support our business community. You truly see that with their response to COVID-19 and providing small business grants as well as our innovation with our Fashion Show that allows our retailers, hair stylists and makeup artists the opportunity to showcase their talents. I wanted the opportunity to be a part of an organization that cares about the growth of the business communities.  And  as a bonus, I am so grateful to be in Kirkland; this city is vibrant and beautiful, and I am lucky to be a part of the growing community.

What are you currently working on at the Kirkland Chamber?

We are currently working on our Legislative Agenda and what type of legislation we'd like to advocate for. Additionally, we are looking for new ways to engage our members, giving them the flexibility to attend events or choose other avenues for using their chamber membership. We are excited about this year, and it's a great time to become a member of the Greater Kirkland Chamber of Commerce.

What programs are you most excited about?

I am excited about our Annual Gala, "Come Glow with Us," where the proceeds will support the Kirkland Chamber Foundation's mission. Our gala provides us with the resources to create programs for Youth Entrepreneurship, Youth Leadership Development, DEIA initiatives, and Small Business Education. Our programmatic work with Lake Washington School District is one of my favorite opportunities with this organization.
